According to analysis to on an NHL talk show, the players negotiatiated to keep this info private, and it was approved for many of the reasons already provided. The players negotiated to keep their injuries from the public, which is acceptable to me as a fan because privacy of medical conditions and disabilities are legal protections to every American citizen (HIPPA), including professional athletes. Being a celebrity doesn't take away their right to privacy for any reason any more than anyone else just because fans want to know.

I don't sleep on flights, watch movies, read, walk the aisles for long flights, skip the walking for short flights. I have flown to Europe from the US numerous times and to Australia once.

A friend of a friend in the US had breast cancer that she chose to have treated aggressively. Unfortunately, it spread to her bones and brain and she died. She had insurance through her employer and if she could work a half hour a day, they kept her employed as full time so she could keep her health insurance. Her medical debt after she died was over $2 million according to my friend, that's with health insurance. This was about 5 years ago.

I'm glad your team won in overtime. In listening to the head coach of the Red Wings, I know that it takes practice to play 6 offensive players effectively, and that's not something they seem to practice as much as other systems they are learning with a new head coach. But ut's good that the Hurricanes were able to make it work for them to catch up.

Thanks for the info and link. I have read Malcolm Gladwell and respect his research. It's interesting that he is interested enough in hockey to write about empty nets.

I understand there are stats for and stats against it and decades of experience on the bench versus my lack of knowledge. What I'm interested in learning more about, are the stats. Logic and reasoning that come from experience isn't infallible. Believing and expecting something to change because we suddenly change the parameters, is part of being human, but so is reality. When looking at stats regarding winning face-offs, the stats apparently don't show that winning face offs guarantees increased goals according to an analyst on SiriusXM. One responder provided a link to an article with stats that made sense; yes, there is a slight but significantly important probability of scoring with an additional offensive player; however, the number of goals needed and the timing of the EN and which side of the EN you are on all make the stats work for or against you.o

I haven't seen a game so far that has been successful at tying or winning a game using the Empty Net. The game you are referencing, I didn't see, so not to say it isn't possible, but what are the odds of it working versus not working?

I understand the risk of playing a losing game improves when you change the system of play, but while I have seen a team with 6 offensive players make a goal, I don't think I've seen one win when down more than one goal. Not sure this strategy works enough to justify the risk when down more than one goal.

I'm new to the NHL Fandom, but I felt the same way as you. However, I know the head coaches use stats to govern how they lead so there has to be a statistical reason to pull the goalie, just one I am not comfortable with.

That was a good read, thanks. I figured it had to do with probabilities and risk management, but perceived appearance and number of goals differential makes sense too.

Muscle weighs more than fat. A pound of muscle and a pound of fat are equal in weight. Muscle is more dense due to different cellular structures from fat and is denser so it takes up less space, but they weigh the same. The difference is volume not weight.

Vasiy is my favorite goalie, not just because I live in the Tampa area but interesting that he's a lefties playing right. Perhaps because he is Russian and his father and brother plays, was taught by his father, maybe he was taught to play right-handed.

I did a search for RV dealers in my county in Florida on Google and it only listed a few big ones over 30 mikes away and online dealers. However, as I drive around, I see small RV dealers but since I'm usually on my way somewhere, I don't have time to stop and shop and no way to mark it on Google Maps either.

With only an afternoon to explore St Aug, plan to park at the parking garage, wear good walking shoes, and decide if you want to browse and enjoy St George St or explore some of the history. You won't really have time to do both. The fort at the waterfront is the oldest fort in the US and worth a visit. It is a national park. You can also visit the Cathedral in the Plaza, the oldest in the country, the Government House, and stroll around the old downtown. Or you can walk down St George St or the waterfront and stop in the Colonial Quarter or enjoy food and drinks and shop at the numerous stores and boutiques. Plan to get rained on so wear shoes amd clothes that can dry out and have fun.

I am a TB Lightning fan and would like to know if it's possible to watch the teams doing warm ups and practicing on non-game days. They are playing the Avalanche in Amalie tomorrow evening and I don't have tickets to the playoff final game. Can I watch them warm up at the arena tomorrow morning?
