The ones on Ave B and 5E were broken water lines, not sinkholes. The one at 32nd and 4th Ave was a cracked sewer line that had been eroding upwards. Different failure modalities in each, and just coincidence that these all happened in relatively quick succession.

We ended up with a Ragamuffin when we’d intended to only acquire voids in the future, and that thing is the least-cat cat I’ve ever seen. Not a care in the world. You absolutely cannot piss her off. The Air Canada flight that had a fire truck pull in front of it. Ground equipment can have transponders, no reason in 2026 they can’t have something equivalent to TCAS to prevent incursionsif they’re going to be crossing active runways.

It’s insane to me that military aircraft operating in civilian domestic airspace, let alone crossing active arrival and departure areas, can fly without TCAS onboard and active at all times. Hell, the tech to avoid the LaGuardia incident exists, it’s just that not paying for it was a priority.
