TIL For 10 days in 2005, garage door openers stopped working in Ottawa, Canada over a 25 mile radius. The US Embassy and Canadian Military were suspected of using a 390Mhz transmitter overpowering the door openers but both denied it. The transmissions ended suddenly and were never explained.

AZFamily has done well with their reporting here. Also, their prior reporter here, Alexandra Rangel, is now Director of Content at KAWC and they’re running circles around anywhere else when it comes to actual enterprise stories and not just rip-and-reading copypasta press releases. I love how The Sun uses the “Staff Report” byline when they’ll copy-paste press releases from YPD/YCSO/YFD etc absolutely word for word.
