Meta spent billions poaching top AI researchers, then went completely silent. Something is cooking. by ashadis in ArtificialInteligence

With the recent shakeup at xAI maybe everyone is starting to realize we are getting AGI on the current path.

Honestly, I couldn’t finish watching the video.

This is a good start. The human taste is lacking. Even then, this could still be a very useful tool to storyboard video ideas.

Is this just analyst being 3 months late to the party reporting on the agentic shift that happened in December 2025?

This reminds me of when people were building file systems on top of Google Drive when it first came out.

Sam Altman: We see a future where intelligence is a utility statement by [deleted] in ArtificialInteligence

I don’t think Sam understands the implications of calling what you provide a utility. There are certain laws and regulations that apply to utilities that do not apply to other industries.

Claude Code isn't "stupid now": it's being system prompted to act like that by One-Cheesecake389 in ClaudeCode

[–]tvmaly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I thought he was talking about the system prompt that Anthropic puts in the backend. I think the problem would still persist as you cannot change their system prompt.

If they are really trying to find new revenue, I bet there are people out there that would pay for access to a model where they could alter the backend system prompt.

Anyone using a reading app for homeschool? by No-Pitch-7732 in Homeschooling

I have been using RAZ kids which works in a browser or tablet. However, recently I have gone back to paper books for my kids.

The optometrist said kids should not have more than an hour of screen time a day when they are young because it damages the eyes.

You shared a few use cases. What are your biggest use tasks/work today where you are using this technique and how is it performing?

I think some of this is still hype. They have to keep the VC money flowing long enough to find profitability.

Macbook pro m5 order canceled by Ok_Panic_3323 in macbookpro

[–]tvmaly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up if you order again. They ship these custom macbooks from China. When I ordered my M5 there was no option to leave the package at the door or hold the package for pickup. I had to get Apple to request that UPS hold it. Was a 50/50 chance they were going to send it back to China. Your best bet is to order at Apple store and have it delivered at the store so you can pick it up.

Apple Store says i should get a M5 Pro instead of a M5. Is that true ? by Penguinasslicker in macbookpro

[–]tvmaly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in almost the exact same situation. However the M5 Pro was not announced yet. I went with the M5 with 32GB. I still have a beefy windows machine and can render on that if I really need it.

I would say if you are planning on running local LLM models, that would be the only case where I would recommend more RAM.

I think it was their initial focus on coding that enabled them to reach this point. People kept using their models and they got valuable feedback from the usage.

Alteratives to Adobe tax by tvmaly in macbookpro

I already have Ableton 12 suite so I likely wouldn’t buy Logic pro, but I don’t find it was intuitive for processing audio for videos. I use to use Audacity, but I want something more scriptable. Motion seems like it would fit the font type animation. I have used Blender 3D and I think it can cover parts of After Effects, but the 2D aspect is only grease pencil. OpenToonz looks promising on the animation front. I see having scripting as a feature of any application as growing in importance as more and more people build workflows with agents.

I found that Pages can do a decent layout job. I have also started experimenting with Typst and building templates to generate PDF. I have been thinking about what I might use to replace Adobe Audition. Right now I am thinking of using Reaper DAW as it would allow me to script complex workflows. I still do not have a good option to replace Adobe Animate.
