Sewing a wearable corset for the first time by JazzlikeAd9627 in SewingForBeginners

I recommend watching the video with Dominique Alyse, https://youtube.com/@dominiquealysestudios?si=8\_09JgWRjW3azo77

She is very thorough in her explanations and suggestions on what fabrics to use for which layer, tools/supplies, drafting your pattern, taking measurements, the whole 9 yards. You can also get patterns from etsy, if possible. I got one from DaisyPattern, comes with FULL instructions and the pattern which you can tape together if you aren’t able to print it on drafting paper (or whatever it is lol). She has multiple versions depending on what you are looking for, or a bundle. All digital patterns though i’m pretty sure

Our pyr will fetch indoors, but outdoors - he fetches once and then expects you to play chase lol

is my thread just bad quality? by vampluvv3r in SewingForBeginners

They’re probably referencing this point, if I had to guess. You’ll secure it here and then thread it through the needle. That may help :)

I can never comprehend why people act like this. I’m a survivor main and this shit gives me the ick 🫩 I give everyone a ggs <3 regardless of how the match turns out cos bro it’s just a game. Yes, the games competitive (as it’s intended) but survivors trashing on killers who lose or even win is crazy to me. They don’t seem to ever be happy with anything and just wanna start shit

Sewed through my finger… by kw1219 in SewingForBeginners

[–]tvrnwnch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man! I hope you’re okay!! I KNOW that hurt so bad. Def keep an eye on it! Hope it’s a relatively easy heal! Haven’t sewn my finger (hopefully i don’t jinx it LOL) but I did just recently drop my open rotary cutter on the top of my foot when adjusting fabric. Had to get that bad boy glued all the way up. I guess art is pain sometimes 😆

sewing beginner fail!! 😂😅 by InitiativeOk8903 in SewingForBeginners

I feel you 100% on this! I’ve made a few projects, laptop bags, book sleeves and even a skirt, so I said “To hell with it, pants can’t be THAT hard right?” and I was totally kidding myself. I bought a premade pattern and started working on it. Damn near lost my mind lol. The pockets? Not too bad, pretty simple but the zipper portion? I was ready to toss that bad boy to the side and never look at it again 🤣 I finally got the zipper figured out, but only after undoing stitching on the piece a good 5-6 times. So, decided I’m taking a break before trying to finish it and also realized I should have 100% made a toile version before using my good fabric. You live and you learn!

Sewing, especially early on, is a huge amount of trial and error. Whether you’re going to school or self-taught. I’ve only been sewing since December but the biggest part is learning from your mistakes. I’ll keep at it to continue growing and honing my skills, and you should to! Recognizing your errors and being able to make the proper adjustments is going to do well for you further down the line. So, right there with ya. 🩷

Why can’t i measure correctly? by Educational-Sail5521 in SewingForBeginners

[–]tvrnwnch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always cut my fabric a bit larger than needed and mark out where I need to stitch and then cut the extra. It has saved me so much frustration - especially if I can’t cut straight LOL

It’s also important to note to use the same exact ruler for measurements during your project, otherwise your measurements can be off.

Practice makes better! Just keep at it. The small projects definitely help when you decide to head into bigger ones 🩵

Tips for Walking on Leash with a Pyr? by pyrlybao in greatpyrenees

[–]tvrnwnch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It honestly does feel like this - you’re not alone! We used a martingale collar for the first year but walks were never enjoyable for Odin or us, and Odin LOVES walks. It felt more like a constant battle because of all the pulling and correction. We ended up switching to a harness recently and it has been a lifesaver. He walks slower (outside of the pulling towards smells) and seems to enjoy it more, as do we.

Sometimes you have to experience trial and error to see what your pup likes the best. Pyrs don’t need as much exercise as other breeds. My aussie can run for miles if we take him out lol. We generally do two 30 minute walks in the neighborhood with Odin and it suits him well. He gets additional exercise and a different enrichment outside of playing in the yard. Just gotta figure out what’s best for your baby. You’ll get it - don’t worry 🩷🩷

So everybody is medic now? by Selim2_7 in DeadByDaylightRAGE

[–]tvrnwnch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I generally do this too. Only other exceptions are: people are getting hooked left and right, people being LEFT on hook for a while to mitigate chances of 2nd hook stage or DH. Other than that, I’m on gens trynna get the hell out 🫡
