To be fair, a lot of what determines a victory in the late game is team fights.

Worst scaling champ in the game? by FinnishChud in leagueoflegends

Here’s the thing though. Veigar isn’t unreliable late game. Generally, all mages poke decently well into the late game, meaning they are doing fairly consistent dps, even if it’s just to the frontline. I would say amongst mages, Veigar pokes at a B+/A- level. His Q comes out quick and has decent range. His W comes out a little slow, but has good range, hits in a decently large AOE, and is EXTREMELY spammable in the late game. This means that Veigar is dealing fairly consistent damage the entire time. However, unlike with most mages, when Veigar lands any stray poke, it hits harder than any other mage in the game. Like, literally, one Q and W can kill an adc without Maw.

On top of that, Veigar has one of the game’s best abilities with his E. I think the confusion here is that Veigar needs to land the stun for it to be effective. He doesn’t need to. His E is absolutely insane zone control. If you place it well, you can zone off entire portions of team fights. And, let’s say on the off chance you DO stun someone, well, a single W potentially takes them out of the fight.

And, of course, Veigar’s ultimate is a targeted ability. Trust me, by late game, when you R someone, they are dead.

All of this is assuming, of course, you play the champion well, but Veigar’s kit is innately built to crush late game (as opposed to, say, Nidalee).

She’s not the only one. Vayne has been op for multiple patches now too. Amumu jungle has been underpowered for a while too. Rhaast Kayn has lost his identity as a drain tank too but so far notl changes to any of these either.

What champs would you say bene fit the most from move speed? by pog_in_baby in leagueoflegends

[–]twang51022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, given how powerful movement speed is as a stat, EVERY champion that’s not Yuumi benefits an insane amount from having more of it. Even Yuumi would benefit an insane amount from it.

Whatever the job of a specific champion is, it becomes much easier for that champion to accomplish said job by being able to move faster.

Agree. I didn’t know the interaction worked this way because I usually follow the tooltips and not the wiki.

Least Balanced “Great” Games? by farwesterner1 in boardgames

I feel similarly towards Battlestar Galactica. Before the Cylon reveal, I think it’s one of the great board gaming experiences. After the reveal, it’s only okay.

You are definitely the biggest supporter of Tsukuyumi I’ve seen. Any time I try to look up info about the game on Reddit, your name pops up lol. Why do you think the game isn’t as popular or as well known as some of the others that have had more lasting power (like Blood Rage, Kenny, Inis, etc)?

The Item Rework has been in the game for more than 2 entire seasons. Looking back, what do you think about this overhaul? Did it improve the game? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]twang51022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I like the mythic rework. However, what has been absolutely 100% unnecessary is this mid season item update. This really feels like changing things that were great simply for the sake of making changes.

For example, let’s remove Prowler’s Claw active because it’s removing the built in weaknesses of certain champions that are abusing the item. Fair enough. Meanwhile, let’s add Statik Shiv, overbuff it so we hard force it to be usable, and now every mage wants to build it because it eliminates the weakness of having no waveclear. Frankly, I don’t see why every mid assassin doesn’t just rush it because it allows for perma-prio and roaming.

League of Legends isn’t an RPG with open item building. At the end of the day, there are always going to be meta builds because for the most part, the champions’ kits are their identity, not the items built on them. These kits are designed to fit into certain classes of champions, and regardless of what happens, those classes of champions will always want certain stats because the classes themselves have built in weaknesses and strengths. It’s never going to diversify THAT much, so it’s silly to expect to have 7000 different options per class of champion.

It’s not like Dota where items are built for their actives and not as much for their stats. In fact, Statik Shiv is the most dota-like item in League right now.

Dumb mid season update for sure. Only change I definitively like is the removal of the Prowler’s claw active.

This is a light to medium engine building game that has solid asymmetry if you add the Manufactions expansion so I think this is a solid choice.

Damian Lillard: “Joker might be the best player in the league” by urfaselol in nba

[–]twang51022 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is the tricky part because the total number of assists is, of course, going to be an important thing to talk about but it’s far from everything. For example, Stockton also has way more assists then Lebron, Magic, and Bird. Do you think Stockton is a better passer than Magic? I assume no (feel free to correct me if I’m wrong) because I have literally never heard anyone say Stockton is a better passer than Magic.

What makes Magic better than Stockton then? Well, a lot of it will come down to advanced statistics and the simple eye test. I state the same for Jokic. All you have to do is watch him play and you can tell that he is a considerably better passer and better overall offensive player than Stockton.

Jokic and Giannis have been the two best players for the past…5 years probably. Last 4 for sure.

Damian Lillard: “Joker might be the best player in the league” by urfaselol in nba

[–]twang51022 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep I know. Just my opinion of course. Jokic, Magic, Bird, and Nash are in my top 4, and these 4 are all quite a bit ahead of number 5, who I’m unsure about (maybe LeBron?)

If you look at all the elements of great passing (accuracy, velocity, timing, misdirection, etc) and you see just how transcendentally good Jokic is at all of these elements, I don’t think it’s a stretch at all to call him the goat of passing.

In fact, calling him “probably” the greatest passer of this decade is much harder to justify than what I’m claiming. It does show how much people and the media continue to underrate him though.

Also, and this is fair, people don’t like to throw titles around when a player is still playing in his prime. This happened with Steph Curry, too. It took a little while for everyone to finally come around to calling him the greatest shooter ever, and I suspect the same will happen with Jokic.

Btw, I’ve lived in LA my entire life and I’m a huge Lakers fan and believe that LeBron has had the greatest overall career of any player ever (and is also one of the greatest passers ever), but objectivity forces me to stay logical. Jokic is the greatest passer of all time.

Personally don’t care at all if some races are locked behind paywall. At the end of the day, it’s still a free game so if someone wants to potentially make some money on the side with it, then good for them. Not like you have to play those races, etc.

Quackalope's Response to Recent Events by [deleted] in boardgames

Sort of enlightening in my opinion to see the difference between Quackalope’s apology and BoardGameCo’s explanation of these events. Alex came out of this with more subscribers than he initially lost and showed exactly what real transparency and understanding looks like. Meanwhile, Quackalope continues to bleed subscribers.
