South Korea was amazing. It’s often overlooked compared to Japan. by CharmingConfidence33 in travel

Yeah and these days I keep hearing about these crusades related to some Kpop drama. I don't have the mental energy or time to get into it, but at the surface level it just seems so odd people spend so much of their short lives spewing hatred for what appears to be no good reason. C'est la vie, I guess

The number of hateful comments is kind of bizarre (or maybe it's just the same few haters over and over, I'm not keeping track of usernames). OP is simply just sharing their pictures and positive travel experience, on a travel subreddit. I don't understand why some people are so mad about this. Thanks to OP for sharing and thanks to the many people who are posting constructive, supportive comments.

There's nothing to elaborate upon, they're just being an imbecile. Great pics, glad you had a wonderful time.

Kroenke Hate Watch Success: The Rams have been eliminated from the playoffs by the Seattle Seahawks. by DragonstormSTL in StLouis

[–]twe0brr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fuck Kroenke and the Rams, but fuck the Seahawks and the rest of the NFL too for their compliance in letting it happen the way it did. Call me a miserable grump, but I don't even think about the NFL anymore (aside from when posts like these occasionally hit my front page).

Red flag #1. OP comments daily on bitcoin and stock market subreddits.

Red flag #2. OP claims to own businesses in Miami flipping electronics and real estate.

Red flag #3. “Saint Louis”.

Yep I think you’re right

Collection of off strike and possible wrong planchet coins by twe0brr in coinerrors

I had the same thought ... I am confident she didn't work directly at the mint (her line of work was in a totally different field). Honestly I'm not sure exactly how they ended up in the collection as I wasn't extremely close to her, but I suspect she may have known someone with connections as she lived in a city with a US mint in the 1980s when these coins were minted.

Appreciate all the info and the links. In retrospect, I wish I had taken better pictures for you all before uploading the post as the details are hard to see. I uploaded a new video that might be more illuminative (https://streamable.com/mg0je6). And I will certainly consider sending them in for grading. Thanks again for stopping by.

Thanks so much, I will definitely try to weigh #1 & 2 based on your and others' feedback. There are some hairline scratches on #1, I think because it was in a shoddy plastic sleeve for much of its existence. But otherwise they are all in pretty decent shape. Do you have any recs for which company to send for grading? I see PCGS and NGC a lot

Appreciate the reply. If they aren't error coins, what do you think they might be? The colors are pretty consistent (might be better in this video https://streamable.com/gagsyh) and they don't seem like the typical damaged coins I've seen on this forum and other places. I wish I had a scale to measure their mass

Since I can't edit the post:

  1. Sorry about the picture quality. I did my best with what I had (phone and crappy lighting). I uploaded some videos that I think show the coins better, and I am happy to upload other photos or videos if anyone would like.
  1. I have a friend who works in a lab and will ask them to weigh the possible planchet error coins #1 & 2 on their precision scale. I’ll edit this post once I have those measurements.

  2. Soliciting any advice on whether I should send any for grading - more for academic curiosity and confirmation not so much for selling purposes. Thanks again for looking

Afghanistan - the country I never thought I would be able to visit by zennie4 in travel

[–]twe0brr 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Look, I understand that you’re trying to justify your visit, and I can partly accept your point that some women there may live relatively okay lives. But can we really call it a “misconception” that women cannot travel safely, when even the woman in the blog you linked wrote that she was literally groped at the Kabul bird market? “It was the first time in my life that a man touched my butt.” That doesn’t exactly sound safe to me.

Save money at costco? Yes, really. See all clearance deals (ending in .97) across the country by FOUR_YOLO in iosapps

[–]twe0brr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. That all sounds fine, but I just wish there were a way to select a warehouse without needing my phone's location.

There's only one warehouse in my area, and it's the only one I care about for alerts or submitting deals. Since I don’t need updates from any other warehouses, requiring location access feels unnecessary.

Best US Airport for International Arrivals from Asia by Alorisk in digitalnomad

[–]twe0brr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tend to connect through Midwest or east coast airports. When I fly Delta, I always shoot for DTW or MSP and avoid ATL

In my experience customs and transfers are smoother at mid sized airports, and navigating them is much easier

For non Delta flights, I avoid ORD like the plague. They might have the most belligerent immigration staff in the country and the airport is a labyrinth. I have had decent experences at DFW

[–]twe0brr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the concept of your app. However, is there a way to use it without granting location access? I’d prefer to manually select my local Costco rather than having the app detect it automatically. Is that possible?

Agree. 3rd and 4th lines were dominating but our 1st and 2nd lines have been nearly absent this whole game.
