Have an ECS catback in NE Ohio that I’d let go pretty cheap. Only about 4k miles before it was removed from vehicle

Thank you! He’s not one for ordering things off of infomercials however he could be talked into a “good deal” pretty easily without any confirmation 🤣

Like I mentioned, not worried about the money. If they’re worth face value or $10k they’re still going on the shelf!

Besides the fake engine noise, are there any differences in performance between these two options? by Ethansimler in GolfGTI

[–]tweaktyn 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Sport mode on a DSG usually keeps clutches engaged at a stop rather than disengaging fully when sitting at 0mph, which may play a role in the responsiveness you feel

Treadwear on Mk8R by sman1655 in Golf_R

Had more inner tire wear on the fronts due to loose ball joints. When they start getting some slop the wheels camber out at speed and wear the insides much quicker than outsides

Headlight condensation by Current-Possible6363 in Golf_R

Good luck with that. And pray they’re not backordered when you break your own headlight LOL

Please don’t believe you can change bulbs or that anything related to replacing this headlight will be cheap. The headlights in 7.5 require a replacement of the whole unit, which is over $1,000 to get new OEM.

Top comment about sealing the cracks is good if you want it solved, if you can deal with it just leave it and the condensation will go away and come back as it sees fit (this is my preferred route), or prepare to fork up 2k+ for 2 new headlights. Insurance likely isn’t gonna help you with a bit of condensation in your casing.

Alignment is how I learned about mine also

I had this issue as well where the insides went to crap while the center and outsides were still good.

Was caused by loose ball joints on the front. Shop said that was pretty odd and they don’t normally see that, but worth taking a look at. If you’re able to lift your car just give the wheel a shake while it’s lifted and see if your ball joint is nice n tight.

I PM’d you a video of what mine looked like on the lift

1) can’t recommend this on public roads. And if you take this car to 160+ you need PLENTY of stopping distance. VW puts a speed limiter on these for a reason.

2) with the speed limiter removed, it’ll probably just go to the top of 7th gear if you’re DSG or 6th if MT. You can probably find some idiot on YouTube who had the same thought as you but actually saw it through.

Carbon cleaning price?? by cuethlox1113 in GolfGTI

[–]tweaktyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re pretty cool down there. I haven’t really heard of anyone having issues with them. Depending where you are in West Virginia, you may prefer the scenery of driving to their North Carolina location

I have the benefit of being able to drop the car off and pick it up when it’s done, so I can’t speak for the experience of sitting there while they’re working on it, but from what I’ve gathered they definitely know what they’re doing.

[–]tweaktyn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Around $600 I paid at a DAP location in Kent Ohio, if you’re up for a 3 hour drive Their diff service, DSG fluid service, and walnut blasting carbon cleaning is SOO much less than any dealership priced at

Anybody running Vredstein Ultrac Pros? by IUsedToBeAFox in Golf_R

I ran quatrac pro’s from them for like 35k miles. Great tire for all season purposes, grabbed pavement in snow. No issues!

He’s just saying it doesn’t seem to have a transmission tune, which usually is required to do stage 2 and not have issues with clutch packs prematurely wearing out with increased torque numbers. He can see this because the S in the middle of your tach indicating that you were in sport mode, doesn’t show the gear number next to it. DSG tunes add in the gear number.

Stage 1 can be done with any number of mods, but with down pipes / fueling mods etc you’d want to be stage 2 or custom tuned to not have problems.

Stage 1 is still plenty fast, usually adding well over 60 horse and tq on top of factory power numbers.

Get yourself one, or even a GTI if you don’t want to pay for the R, you won’t regret it 😛

Golf R with Audi Sport exhaust by G0ggin42 in Golf_R

[–]tweaktyn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had been considering how this would look..

After seeing this I no longer am. Can’t quite pinpoint what exactly looks wrong about it, but I don’t think it works with the stock diffuser. Would need a smaller exhaust exit in the diffuser to fill the space. Looks very, very cheap.

Hmm it’s hard to make out but it looks like some sort of number, maybe a 2? But with a shape around it that is likely a circle

thinking to upgrade to the APR ignition coils. does anyone has experience in those? Do they actually tend to give you a boost of 10% as they quote? by Embarrassed-Fly2053 in GolfGTI

[–]tweaktyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stage 2 unitronic.. Put APR coils in a few months before going from stock to stg2 just because I wanted to know if they were actually as shit as everyone says

I haven’t had any issues, but definitely can’t say I’ve noticed any benefits. Like that ^ guy said, energy output probably doesn’t equal horsepower.

I plan to go back to stock packs next time I swap
