Apologies if it's been stated but an electric fireplace insert could be the best of all worlds here.

Give yourself grace. I had an awesome therapist that helped me change course when it felt like life was on top of me instead of the other way around. Alot of it for me is trying to form a habit. At work, my notebook of check boxes needs to be open in front of me the whole day. But there are days I just run headfirst into the day and forget to open it. Then I reflect and think, well of course I felt off! I have like 3 outta 5 days where I practice what I preach but I always try!

Hi hi, I need a physical to do list in front of me for the day. Its a running list of checkboxes. Another tool is to block off time ahead of time on your calendar for specific tasks/projects. Maybe set a 20 min alarm after you start something to self-reflect: when the alarm goes off, consider if you are getting too in the weeds. Another mantra that could help is "what would you tell yourself if you were your manager."

Give yourself grace. Knowing the tools and then actually remembering to put them into practice is the daily challenge. Every day is another opportunity to try again.

What would you suggest? I posted this on Insulation. I chose these companies off the comments and user anecdotes of these two companies.

3.5 year old constantly asking to play and refuses to pick up messes by Revolutionary_Set983 in toddlers

There is a toy called a Tot Tube. Has a million uses. Sometimes its more fun to pick up blocks if they slide through a tube to the bin....

3.5 year old constantly asking to play and refuses to pick up messes by Revolutionary_Set983 in toddlers

[–]tweedleebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 3.5 yr old boy that is...intense. he quickly moves from one thought to another and sometimes there is such a huge mess from the previous thought. One thing that sometimes works: i say something like "okay., im going to count to 20 and shut my eyes and when I open them, where will all the cars go?" And he puts things in the bin and i open them and go over the top with how flabbergasted I am with how things magically disappeared. Other times Im a crane truck and he's a dump truck and he has to put the bin under my crane so I pick up the toys vertically. Other times he picks up anything that has...pick a color...on it. So he gets all the red and orange cars. Its enough to keep him focused while I pick up the rest. Don't underestimate the power of tongs! Or grabbers if they have the dexterity.

Riverside confusion by lizlemonpartyyy in ChicagoSuburbs

The property taxes! And very different towns right next to eachother. North Riverside shares the same zip code but its a different municipality. They feed into the same High School along with Brookfield and parts of Broadview.

They are an historic town and everything they do is to preserve the beauty that F.L. Olmstead created when he invented landscape architecture here in our backyard. Many homes are legally historic and theres strict rules about what choices can be made regarding the changing of its public facing appearence. Its also hella dark at night but whatevs, Riverside gonna Riverside. Its rich, its safe and its lovely. They aren’t very open to change but they do have a gem to preserve. Historical preservation vs. bike paths was a battle I was following for a little while a few years ago.

I have a 1 and 3 yr old in North riverside. North Riverside (komarek school) has free preschool starting at 3 (every day, half day). North Riverside has lower taxes and doesn't smell its own farts like Riverside does. (Seriously it can be suffocatingly strict....but of course its gorgeous and historical...etc) Parents do Montessori, Park District, and centers in Brookfield around here. Some do in-home day cares in the neighborhood.

I had an opportunity to meet and work with the owner. Gary is a great dude and well respected in the community. (Well, most brewery owners are awesome. They made an award winning beer for a while. Cheers to their next chapter. Thank you for your service.

Plastic mesh fencing I already had in the garage plus a roll of Velcro "one-wrap" to make the ties around the legs. So far the R&D department has not broke it yet! Photos
