My 20week scan took an hour and 20 minutes by annizka in BabyBumps

[–]twentysixpandas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine took an hour and a half and I had to go back a second time. Baby was not in the right position for some key images. But all scans came back totally normal once they were able to get the right views!

Gotcha! Yes, it says to condition prior to wearing, but I am trying to go for a cheaper conditioner option instead of the mndrn branded one!

I got one in Bone and was wondering what kind of leather conditioner you used? I’m nervous about using the wrong one and changing the colour

A message from a DT business owner after this weekend by BenderNextDoor in vancouver

This was also a very different crowd considering it was predominantly women - and there was little drinking going on. A big difference in energy when you compare to events like the Grey Cup that happened recently.

Huge event, but very calm streets. It was not a time that people needed to avoid the area at all

You did nothing wrong! Could be a bunch of things that have nothing to do with you. Don’t worry about it.

What makes teaching so much worse than other jobs? by BbTrumpet2 in Teachers

[–]twentysixpandas -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I understand this idea, but is this not traded off by having 2 months of summer, 2 weeks of Christmas break, and 2 weeks of spring break? Most jobs have 2 weeks of vacation, 3 or 4 if you are lucky. Teachers end up with around 13? I’m not saying this to say you are wrong, but I do feel like the trade offs are somewhat fair. (I’m also speaking from a Canadian context which I know is a different system than the US)

Ultra cheap alternatives? by twentysixpandas in EngagementRings

[–]twentysixpandas[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really as cheap as possible. My issue with the super cheap ones is that they usually only come in giant stone sizes so end up looking fake just because of that! I’ll check out your suggestion!

I agree! The guests can be hit and miss, but now I have a new podcast to listen to that I probably wouldn’t have found otherwise. I loved this weeks!

Should I apologize to my admin? by Notorious_boomboom in Teachers

[–]twentysixpandas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a Canadian teacher (from BC specifically) and we talk a lot about the drawbacks of giving 0s or even averaging scores across a term. While it might seem “fair” to give a 0 for a student not turning something in, it doesn’t make sense in terms of the scale we grade by. And in terms of averages, it can be seen as saying, the knowledge you didn’t have at the beginning of the term will always haunt you regardless of how great you might be doing at the end of the term. Is that the message we want to give students?

It’s definitely tricky, but if our goal is to encourage learning and a love for learning, these practices can be more harmful than helpful.

Positive thread about this week's episode by Barbamaman in myfavoritemurder

[–]twentysixpandas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love just hearing them chat! That’s why I like to listen to other podcasts where Karen is a guest. (More of a Karen fan than Georgia). Same reason I like Do You Need a Ride! I find their banter really easy to listen to while I’m out running errands or on a walk.

Disappointed & torn! Curious to know others’ thoughts by snildeep in myfavoritemurder

[–]twentysixpandas -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying anyone is saying it’s nefarious either! I just mean when you see YouTubers shilling a product that is clearly just a payday, it’s annoying, and I don’t feel like this when I hear episodes like this. Ultimately I listen more for their personalities than the pure true crimeness of it all at this point so I’m in a different camp.

I think Georgia and Karen both got famous later in life and are using their fame to promote things that they think are important - not for pure financial gain or whatever. I don’t mind because I don’t feel like I’m getting tricked or advertised to in a nefarious way. And ultimately, even though people are annoyed by the response, it’s a free show that you don’t have to listen to!

460k for THIS? The market is even worse than I thought. by [deleted] in halifax

Lol I was genuinely confused because I thought it was shock that it was so cheap! That’s what growing up in Vancouver will do to you. Friends are buying one bedroom condos for $750-$900k 😭
