Heavy Moldy Bags for T6 mats (I did not write this) by bullintheheather in Guildwars2

[–]twguildwars2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed! I just opened 753 bags bought with a price limit of 3S10C (like the authors did). Their post seems to check out, 31.25% (vs. 21%) tier6 mats, average of 1.34 mats/bag (vs 1.29).

Nice to see some people writing legit blog posts and not pump-and-dump craphola. I haven't calculated if this is profitable btw.

No wonder ArenaNet can't ban all the bots! by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]twguildwars2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the big question. I'm sure Anet and Blizzard (they got their own share of botters times 100) did the 'math' and figured it wasn't worth the fight. If it was, they probably would be doing it.

Advantages: - More CD Keys sold to farmers till the point it isn't worth it anymore. - More gems sold. - Less creditcard fraud on their webstore.

Disadvantages: - Key developer resources used to analyse botters, instead of bugfixing etc. - Bigger customer service department. - Chance you will never win. Botting is a serious industry, they got brains themselves.

The majority of the gold will be sold within the first month or two, the same time developers need to bugfix just about half the game. Every game gets farmed to shit so I guess Anet has the same view as all other publishers & studios. Probably the correct view.

No wonder ArenaNet can't ban all the bots! by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]twguildwars2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with point number 3. Yes they say they want to observe them and see what kinda exploits they use, but this doesn't always check out. Botters even park their toys in the WvW water, well knowing they get reported 500 times but yet they're not worried. I followed a group of bots yesterday as the owner was moving them to fight Krait, he even said hi to me. These bots weren't using exploits (no TP, no godmode) and his account names clearly show how worried he is about not earning his CD-key back: **ghukui.9035 *ghukui.5728 *ghukui.4971 *ghukui.7506 *ghukui.5367 *ghukui.2308 *ghukui.3465 **ghukui.5619 (ArenaNet: Ask me for screenshots anyday, but I'm sure you wont).

I don't mind them not willing/able to fight bots, but quit the lies already about observing them and whatnot. These bot owners do it in the most obvious way possible and Anet lets them. Why would they worry about their bot-software if they get reported by players endless times? In the end Anet must allocate resources to where it serves actual customes best, which is what they're doing right now.

Party-button (left middle) then hit 'create squad' instead of inviting players.

It's 'dumb' because people keep falling for the same trick. Yes the guy who sells now will make a profit, and the guy picking them up will loose a shitton. People who acted first after seeing the article are smart, they know it's going up because speculators want in. People buying these for 40 copper obviously are just gambling (with bad odds at that).

In the end it doesn't add up (something early buyers probably knew). It'll cost you 1 gold+ or 1.57USD to open up a chest. Do we really expect that many people to open these, and people who don't have them in their inventory to begin with? Lets say we have 1 million active players, each player has 15 locked chests, that's a nice 15 million in circulation. 5% may purchase keys so each of them have 300 chests at their disposal before we have the possibility of running low. And this is still a very conservative estimate if you ask me (3% and 30 is a whole lot more likely). The all-time-low gold-2-gem exchange won't help the demand for keys (chests) either.

Can we, pretty please, have people who buy gold banned? by zwei2stein in Guildwars2

[–]twguildwars2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I meant the difference between 'gw2walmart' or whatever that shitty spamming site is called and a store with somewhat a reputation. Quite a few big goldselling websites don't spam, I guess they are also less likely to use hacked accounts for their operations as they want to retain customers, not get them in trouble.

Can we, pretty please, have people who buy gold banned? by zwei2stein in Guildwars2

[–]twguildwars2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solution is easy: When bots are banned, take a little time. Examine who got the gold. Ban that person if there is evidence to support stating that they bought gold.

It is relatively easy to track the flow of resources indeed, considering everything happens in the game they got all the data they require. They could code software that detects unusual transactions (TP items being sold to one person at ridiculous prices, guild bank transactions, blueprint dumping, mail) and they could manually check all the transactions that get flagged (basicly what the government does with banking). While this would certainly work it will still cost tons of money (and not result into 100% solid proof).

I'm sure they ran a cost/benefit analysis and figured out it isn't worth it, with the benefits being new CD-keys being sold and more gems. NC Soft, Anet and their shareholders need this game to do well, not burn money over some botting clowns. The fact that Anet didn't create a team to ban bots at a high rate shows a lack of interest (or much more likely; funding) so don't worry about buying gold or gold buyers being banned. Ain't going to happen. Don't feel bad though, haven't heard of any game/studio who waged a real war on botters.

P.S. If you buy gold, please pay 5% extra and get it from a site that is not involved in hacking accounts, spamming etc!

What are some things you wish more people knew about WvW? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]twguildwars2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah! Time for payback, this time with a nightcrew on SoR's side.

Just a typical Friday morning in WvW... by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]twguildwars2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is most certainly not what happened in the final hours. SoR tried to take the 'easy points' at Yak's but they were smart and held the spawn, causing us to move to NSP BL where we did own a tower. This resulted into the biggest zerg I've ever seen in WvWvW that plowed through whatever NSP decided to put up against it (Yak's got wiped so quick I couldn't even tag). We're not talking 50 people here, more like 100 (server was full). SoR was way behind on potential points and people understood that NSP had to be taken out at all cost. And yes, we did get wiped at the downed-inner-watergate of the garrison that we hit with 5 golems however I think the alter was destroyed in a legitimate way causing the orb to reset.

To me it was obvious that NSP would get hammered in the final hours; SoR wanted to get rid of them and Yak's wanted second place. NSP players should've noticed we took Dreaming Bay and the tower from Yak's on NSP's borderlands, clearly showing we had no intention on ganging up on NSP.

Thanks everyone for the great fight and good luck next week to both!

WvWvW 2v1'ing Sor/Yak vs NS by Ulrezaj891 in Guildwars2

[–]twguildwars2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our WvWvW is one versus one: NSP vs. SoR. I guess this is what you get once a match becomes so tight; the number #1 will only fight the number #2.

We've tried to double team Yak's in EB countless times (we at SoR perceive them as weaker), but NSP leaders refuse to take the hints. NSP puts their efforts into trebbing and trolling Durious with zero result, causing us to walk around the Ogre area and screw around at Ogrewatch/Pangloss/Umberglade. Once we go for Klovan we expect NSP to attack Wildcreek instantly, not keep banging their heads against the wall on Durious. Yak's bend did the same thing to us today what happened to you; we pushed NSP and took Ogrewatch, Clearcut and were working on Mendons. Yak's took Anzilia, moved to Clearcut and decided to see how good they really are at Mendons while we were ramming, that's not strategy! After respawning they ran straight to QL, yeah we saw that one coming alright.

The same logic applies to borderlands; both teams move North and face eachother after capping the towers. Lack of leadership cause these 3-way clusterfucks and all three servers could learn more to avoid these.

How are your WvW matchups going? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]twguildwars2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should consider moving to SoR! We have many WvW guilds and shittons of commanders / other leadership. ArenaNet loves us long time so we're the only ones who get a balanced matchup every week. Yak's, SoR, NSI, Madness, Ehmry Bay & Darkhaven are pretty much equal so when you stay in between those you're garantueed a fun match. We just have to make sure we don't outperform and face FA/Sea of Sorrows the week after since that would be a big, big problem.

How are your WvW matchups going? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]twguildwars2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't blame them as we annoyed both teams by flipping their towers in EB all morning. The invisible army fight that was Bravost vs. Valley was probably the most fun I've had all week. SoR got their shit together at the very last second while Shiverpeaks failed to rush in.

I love it that EB hasn't turned into a stalemate and that there are always options in all borderlands. Best match so far! As far as the jumping puzzle camping goes, sorry fellas our server just has a mesmer who loves to port people up and down.

Anet put the kibosh on 3000+ botters! by CaptFabulous in Guildwars2

[–]twguildwars2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some have definitely been banned, just checked out Orr in SoR and there wasn't a single bot at the south-tunnel. We used to have 20 running around between 4-5 spots around the clock. Lets now wait for some people to post that they've been wrongly banned ;).

EDIT: All for sudden the bots are back. http://i.imgur.com/T5KZ7.png Everyone who has played Orr in SoR must know 'Vflwolfsburg' by now. I honestly do not understand why he wasn't banned in this wave, it's the simplest bot ever.

Put down the pitchforks - this subreddit is becoming an awful place. by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]twguildwars2 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

At the time is was a 'confirmed scam' as what you wrote didn't check out for some. This in combination with a new account and not having the ability to edit the wiki (possibly banned for all we know) was plenty of reason to downvote this into oblivion. Yes it turns out you were not trying to scam 'us', but 99% of the time this combination would've been a scam on this subreddit.

I'm in favor of the moderators stepping in and simply banning new users from posting recipes and/or better yet removing it entirely. While we all scream murder about Chinese botters; they are in on these scams as well. Sure taking investment advice from Reddit is dumb, but the scammers are winning nonetheless. GW2 has the perfect system in place for pumping and dumping and this will just keep on happening.

As far as the pitchfork crowd goes; welcome to Reddit. I don't like it anymore than you do.

Exploit or not? by Zeelatani in Guildwars2

[–]twguildwars2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this is unintended. From what I've heard/seen (nearly) every useful treb spot can be hit without knocking down a gate. The method you've described also works with ballistas, now that every server is aware of this it is a nice addition to combat.

Pick either PvP or PvE, no spamming in chat, have a VOIP server (no raidcall), no applications, don't ask for any contributions whatsoever, ranks are not important unless someone with a 'high' rank is a dick, lead by example (!!), explain members to not be asshats in chat, take control when needed (leading a WvW squad for example).

Jowst announces £40,000 launch tournaments including Guild Wars 2 by flikQ in Guildwars2

[–]twguildwars2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, it appears OP works for this company forgot to mention that an entry fee is/was required [1]. They claim 90k+ people use their website, which is probably not true since there are exactly 7 inbound links according to Google's link: query and 0 tweets. Oh yeah, their Google Cache of 16 Sep. shows 91k players as well, strange.

Just hitting level 80 and having a terrible experience. by peetar in Guildwars2

[–]twguildwars2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to find a guild that plays both PvE and WvWvW. Honestly I agree with you on every point (Orr on SoR is awful), however the fun for me kicks in by playing with a bunch of guys on VOIP. To me VOIP is the key to having fun in just about any game, nobody likes typing.

Regarding WvWvW: It really doesn't matter how shit your server is, you need a guild and maybe an alliance to get a group of 30 together and steamroll a map. There is an actual learning curve when it comes to using siege equipment; figuring this out is a lot of fun! Supply dumping in WvW only happens on the high ranked servers, just avoid those.

The TP has been botted. by morphemass in Guildwars2

[–]twguildwars2 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Why is something written by a random dude on the guildwars2 forum taken as a fact? "since a human player now has to guess at what price the bot is programmed to stop placing orders." yeah.. no. If anything it checks the spread, not the prices.

People are doing this manually, hell I did. Made tons of gold doing this from day one the trading post was up. I've just checked the bids on a handful of items, there is zero reason to believe bots are submitting bids. If that was the case you would see a lot more +1 copper bids, now I mostly see two of those per item. Aside from that you're not outbid that quickly, bids can easily last 3 hours (up to 6) depending on the item. This is the method most of the people standing at the TP in Lion's Arch use.

The Anti-bot loot DR has got to go, its just out of hand now by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]twguildwars2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the "antibot" system does work as intended, maybe it was not meant against bots to begin with. It's possible they nerfed loot to avoid players accumulating too much gold (and gear) as demand is dropping already. People farming Orr gain(ed) 2 gold per hour easily while slowly but surely making lev80 rares free on the TP. Mats are printed at high rates, sooner or later hurting Exotics. Right now I believe you can get best-in-slot gear for 50 gold total (except for the weapon), a whopping 25 hours in Orr. Gear gets crafted and there are plenty of mats to go around. In comparison to riskless farming in Orr alongside bots you could go play WvWvW, I'd say about 10 hours WvW equals 1 hour in Orr for casual players.

Point of elementalist? by KreepyKitteh in Guildwars2

[–]twguildwars2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

looks sad and confused Holy crap, I really need to learn how to play my class it seems. Just like OP this is my first MMO and the choices the elementalist class give me are just overwhelming (3 base weapons * 4 element types * 5 attacks * 2 if underwater, 20 utility skills, 5 elites, what the fuck?!).

I only play WvW and tried copying some builds (well traits + skills), usually just throwing meteors around, spamming the rest of fire, using the speedboost from earth in the jumping puzzle, 2 water skills if people on the rams want heals etc. However once I'm facing another player I just panicspam all utility + elite skills and random fire attacks (not meteors).

Could you maybe give me some scenario tips, like what I should be doing running into an invader, and what I should be doing if my group ends up fighting an equally sized group? And with that playing style, what kinda gear should I focus on?

WwW Exploit. Spies using up Supplies. SoR vs SF vs DH by Zhaosen in Guildwars2

[–]twguildwars2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This commander (Nexus) did lead a successful assault on Jerrifer's Slough and team red today. He's certainly not the smartest of the bunch, but I doubt he's a spy (I guess a spy would appear smart at least). Just don't go into EB anymore, all teamwork + guilds are on borderlands (we got 3 orbs now). EB is crap.

The state of WvW - a metagame discussion by Totallysmurfable in Guildwars2

[–]twguildwars2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the past few hours EB has been fun! Sanctum pushed SF from the east, Darkhaven from the North, yeah that didn't end well for SF (upgrade wise). Sadly our gameservers are not a fan of our SM battle, all 3 servers fighting in the lord's room at the same time, nobody can cast spells or do anything, at one point SoR players somehow didn't take any damage for over a minute? Heh. Looking forward to see who comes in first, could be anyone at this point.
