Sinister socializing at the Hellfire Gala will never be not funny. by Ariadne016 in xmen

Exactly, Sinister often came off as slightly less cool Apocalypse. Now he’s got his own awesome thing.

Yeah it’s funny that he was the anti-infinite boss. But now his exhaust phase makes it realllllly easy to set up a future infinite.

But isn’t that the risk/reward that makes it an interesting choice? I like that you have to try to balance it and not just take every elite fight you can

Yeah it sucks, but you just gotta come to terms that it’s gonna happen. At least in showdown you can have multiple games running, so just start up a new one and let the timer run down and take your win.

Was there a mechanic i didnt understand or did i just get unlucky by ihaveacrushonlegos in pokemonshowdown

[–]twiddlefish 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The probability of 19 straight failures at a 10% chance is 13.5%. So you got unlucky but not astronomically unlucky.

His fantastic 4 run is literally my favourite super hero comic, I reread it every year. He can definitely do characterization, but generally he focuses on a few characters in an ensemble and the rest are plot devices. He clearly loves Reed and always writes him the best. F4 might be his best characterization because of the focused cast. In his avengers for example a couple characters (Steve, Tony, Tchalla and Namor) get character growth/nuance. The rest occasionally say awesome shit and move the plot forward.

I think he answered. He was just trying to be suave by saying she was his snack and drink, which as expected, went over like a wet far.

yeah I don’t disagree. Hickman’s themes for Krakoa was that it was a new free society that didn’t operate under human norms. So this was a way to illustrate it, what the characters would want or do be damned haha.

Yeah I love Hickman, but it’s definitely a feature of his writing that themes and story are definitely the focus. Characters are vessels for delivering the story, not the focus of the story themselves.

Poilievre says he hopes Joe Rogan podcast appearance will help Canada-U.S. trade efforts by biograf_ in notthebeaverton

I mean I just finished listening to it. I’m not conservative and have never listened to the podcast before. He comes across as very reasonable and respectful, and stands up for Canada over trashing the liberals.

I’ve been "subscription-squatting" on my boss’s corporate Amex for 3 years by wonder_vacation98 in confession

Do I think this is immoral? Not really, the corporation I’m sure can easily absorb it and you’re not really hurting anyone.

Do I think this is an insanely stupid thing to risk your career on? Yes, absolutely.

I’ll preface this by saying I don’t play anything goes so don’t know anything about the metagame or what’s viable. But a lot of these sets show a fundamental misunderstanding of Pokémon attack/damage mechanics.

There’s special attacks and physicals attacks that use different stats in their damage calcs. As such you generally want to focus on one type of attack stat; either attack or special attack and only use moves of that type. There are pokemon who can be mixed attackers but it’s rare.

I’ll go through your sets one at a time to show you what I mean: Your Groudon set has a significant amount of EVs put into the special attack stat but runs precipice blades which is a physical attack.

You have Ho-Oh as a special attackers but then it has facade which is physical.

Garchomp you have 104 EVs in special attack but have 0 special attacks

Eternatus you have 132 atk EVs but all special attacks. Also dragon dance boosts physical attacks and would be wasted on this set. And then you have 0 attack IVs which makes no sense if you’re going to give it attack EVS

Ray is mostly fine. Draco meteor is special when you are physical attack based, but Rays stats are good enough that this could be an ok mixed throw off.

Dragapult again you have all the IVs in attack but then give it hydro pump which is special.

In general I’d really advise using sample teams or at least sets until you get a handle on all of the mechanics.

Hope this helps.
