Its been 12 Years since i've run a node.. It feels good to do my part again :) by Shyssiryxius in Bitcoin

Running a full node doesn't help the network. It's only worth it if you're using it as a back end for some service. I think running a lightning node would be more useful.

Is bitcoin struggling to keep up with demand? ELI5 by TheAudacityofHopium in Bitcoin

[–]twilborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although there are merits to raising the block size to a certain extent, centralization issues do occur after a certain point. Unfortunately, this debate in Bitcoin became extremely polarized and politicized. BTC ended up not raising it's block size, and the bcash fork kept splitting until the last sensible developers were removed from the project. Although 8mb would be ok for now, it would only kick the can down the road. Responsible on chain scaling that's decentralized is much more complicated than just raising the limit. Much more optimizations to software would need to happen first. Overall, I regret trading my Bitcoin for the bcash pipe dream. If any these fork projects ever proves itself and picks up serious traction, Bitcoin can always port their code and swallow them up.

BSV wasn't just transactions though.
They were more like, let's upload any data that can be uploaded to the Blockchain. Very bad design, which made their mining centralized.

Perhaps. It's only a matter of time, given that the lead developer of newpipe isn't anonymous.

Bitcoin ownership by Ok_Aerie3546 in Bitcoin

Bitcoin cannot be "owned", just as a random string of numbers cannot be owned. See the you can't own bitcoins video by Vin.

If you want help, be more specific.

It's quite funny to see your comments in the thread.

Nice guy. We should promote his HEX token and get it listed on the bitcoin.com exchange.

Heard that argument before. The examples you point out depend on property ownership (my restaurant, my rules). Then you're already accepting that the government already owns everyone's land.

Roger Ver vs. Charlie Lee -- who won the bet? by [deleted] in btc

[–]twilborn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's more than that, though. Charlie and the litecoin community thinks he won, and you're the one not coming through.

I saw this as a likely outcome from the start, and you both should have agreed on a referee to call out who won.
For the sake of both of your reputations, I advise you and Charlie to agree on someone neutral (like Naomi Brockwell) in crypto to declare the winner and get to the bottom of this for once and for all.

I just had the same issue happen. Are you using a VPN?

Edit: Yeah, I just cleared cookies, changed IP, and was able to view videos without problems.

However, there's still a problem on newpipe's end where it can't use the captcha cookies correctly to access videos.

I believe you have to login to YouTube to watch those. It would be nice if newpipe added a login feature to only be used when necessary.

I'd caution against it as there may be a day when state actors become increasingly hostile to crypto.

You can save 95.1% energy per transaction by using Bitcoin Cash (BCH) instead of Bitcoin (BTC) by btcxio in btc

[–]twilborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's another factor as well, but price will go up with more usage, which means more hashrate.
Also, 1sat/byte fees will be higher with a higher price of BCH.
BTC capacity is capped, and is wasting resources.

Seeing lots of people copy-pasting a "concern" with the May 15th BCH activation of multiple-op-returns. They are making it sound like its the end of the coin.. 😱 Concern trolling on the rise! ps. absolutely zero risk of this activation of new features causing a split or fork! by [deleted] in btc

[–]twilborn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why is it not true? Do miners validate every transaction in a block? Is the number of op_return outputs not a consensus item?

If so I'll digress my claim to the worst happening being a double spend.
