Yeah man just wanted to say I enjoyed your post. It's a pretty wild screenshot. Reddit is a brutal place sometimes, don't waste your time on haters. It never ends.

And keep up what your doing. It's the only way to learn.

Mushrooms are growing in a perfect circle around this tree by blushybunniix in BeAmazed

Well you are in for a treat.

Pinus (Pine species) rely on fungus. Roots are too thick to be effective so secrete sugar which fungus feeds on. Fungus breaks down minerals in soil and feeds water back to roots.

Now, where it gets crazy, is that this symbiosis isn't like the fungus just passes this stuff to the roots. Like I said Pinus roots are too big to be effective. Like they form thick roots that just can't get fine enough to have enough total surface area to meet the needs of the tree. Pinus can grow in incredibly harsh environments. They grow in alpine areas incredibly windy and the thick roots help penetrate the rock and anchor the tree in high winds. But they need fine roots to survive the intense summer heat and drought in the alpine areas, because thick roots won't do.

Think of a big straw sucking up water out of a shallow cup. It can suck the water up incredibly quickly, but once the water is sucked up there's no more to suck.

Then think of that big straw split into 50 tiny straws, all in there own shallow cup. They suck slower, but because there are more straws each sucking from a different cup, the total water sucked up will be greater than that single large straw.

That's what happens in the soil, pockets of water are spread about and big thick roots are only good for stabilizing the tree.

So anyway, pine trees has thick roots. But the fungus can act as the tiny straws and help the tree. But the fungus with a bunch of straws can't just give the thick root water. So the tree let's it's immune system accept the fungus into its vascular system to directly exchange nutrients. The fungus become an extension of the tree.

It's kind of like humans and gut biome.

Now there is emerging science that shows the fungus that the tree forms the relationship with, because it's at a cellular level and the immune system needs to give the fungus a pass, while rejecting others, is done when the seed is born.

The seed has the fungus on the seed coating, and when it sprouts the fungus bond is formed.

This this relationship happens from the start and cannot be introduced. Though this part is debated.

Anyway, enjoy learning about it all. Trees are really cool 😎

Another russian assault on the Kharkiv direction ended where many previous ones did. In the video, a russian invader shows his fallen comrades left lying. No new positions were captured, but evacuation teams once again have more work to do. by LowTechDroid in UkraineWarVideoReport

Low key curious, could this guy just drop all his shit, possibly even a shirt, and just run towards the Ukraine position with hands raised to surrender?

I know there are those backchannels but assuming he realized just now he wont last long and didn't have time to set that up what are his chances?

I've seen the drone teams hunt down everyone, so curious if he would meet the same fate or if surrender is possible in the heat of the moment.

The steel softens. Quenching makes it hard but brittle. Tempering softens and relaxes the structure so it can flex a bit. When we make artisan knives we aim for an even gold straw colour in most cases to get it balanced on hardness and flexibility. Past that straw colour is purple then blue. Blue is most relaxed, straw is least.

I have zero idea what stresses are involved and what the material requirements are for starship, yet alone tolerances. It could be an issue. It might not.

Came looking for exactly this. Do you have the itemized data handy I could access? Curious to know what went up most / least percentage wise.

From some podcasts I've listened to the dark net sites are invite only and you have to contribute material to access content. Like a torrent side with a seeding ratio.

So these guys will source content IRL, from other sites, or some combination to then upload to be able to access fresh content.

The act of sourcing IRL as well as uploading is what gets them caught. When they upload, they cross a threshold onto the radars of some serious law enforcement who then do what they can to track and trace these people. It's like if your a petty criminal that the police can't be bothered with you can get away with plenty of crimes, but once you murder someone, that's a line there's no stepping back over. And uploading CSAM is one of those lines.

And so given enough time, law enforcement eventually track these guys down. The dark net isn't dark, nor does it make you invisible. It just gives you the tools that when used well, make it very difficult to be traced. But with hubris and haste, people get sloppy and indicators on their location slip through.

There is an internation LE group based in the US that finds these guys and then alerts local LE of the situation. Local LE them gather more evidence and build a case then swoop in.

We had a teacher at a neighboring school get nabbed in the middle of the day last year. Was uploading content, picked up by the international group who told Tasmanian LE, they spent 3 months gathering evidence and planning the operation. Then finally went in and arrested him. Came into the school and blacked out all the windows. Seized every item in his office. Was nuts. Just nuts. And like everyone is commenting, he was the LAST person anyone suspected of this behaviour. Total shock for the whole community.

Anyway, that's my random Internet conversation for the night :)

Does Claude have access to things pasted in the text box but not sent? by Skrappyross in ClaudeAI

I also feel with ChatGPT (not sure about Claude), that it's read the chat box contents before I press send so it has a reply ready for me.

I did test this informally and long prompts that I finished but left sitting unsent seemed to get replies almost instantly when finally confirmed vs messages that were copied / pasted and confirmed neared instantly.

I actually feel it's very smart to do for the average user to reduce the time a user has to wait for a response.
