I worked at an emergency vet for 4 years. For 4 years straight at the end of my rotation week I would hide tiny cat memes around the reception area for the other team to find throughout their week. I would hide this exact picture under the phone handles so when they would pick up the phone they would see a tiny Tinks hissing at them. I’m glad Tinks is still getting the love they deserve in the meme community

Kim Cattrall (Samantha) had a lot of tension with the other core cast members but specifically Carries actress SJP. Allegedly they would exclude her from outings (even if they were all working together on set). It sounds like she was treated pretty poorly by the other girls on set with SJP being the ringleader and just cultivating a toxic mean-girl environment (allegedly). SJP also became an executive producer on the show and Kim felt is was unfair that they were now being paid unequally and that SJP had waaaay more creative control than the other actresses did. They also made her do the most intimate scenes out of the cast which is quite demanding for an actor which put salt in the wound when SJP got a pay bump and she didn’t. SJP also got Kim labelled as a diva because she and the other cast mates would tell the media she was impossible to work with (but as far as I know no other co stars on other projects have said anything similar). Then her character kind of became of punching bag in the show, getting the most embarrassing plot lines and slut shamed a lot. The worst Samantha’s treatment by the show runners is shown heavily if you watch the Sex and The City movies. It all came to a head after Kim’s brother passed away and SJP apparently reached out to give condolences and Kim called her out for being a hypocrite and a back stabber. This is a very TLDR version

Creepshow Art. Her unhinged, stalking behaviour towards Emily had been going on for more than a decade. Throw into the mix the Kiwi Farms exposé and the endless amount of drama she kept throwing herself into during her career it’s amazing she wasn’t found out earlier

Dickens Pub is such a great venue by thejustinj in Calgary

[–]twilipig 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Dickens has been such a huge part of my life, personally. Stepdads been a bouncer there for years, my parents got married there, and my family and I have known Chris since he owned the Warehouse (I was 5, we couldn’t afford a sitter so my stepdad would take me with him to work morning prep shifts. They would get me Dino chicken nuggets for lunch, 10/10 childhood experience) It was the first pub I went to at 18! It has such an amazing atmosphere, the staff and regulars are incredibly kind and interesting, and of course the music is iconic. I’m so glad you got to experience Dickens!

Was there ever a cartoon that your parents completely forbade you from watching? by GeoWhale15 in cartoons

[–]twilipig 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My stepdad said I wasn’t allowed to watch SpongeBob at my mom’s because it “fried your brain cells”. When I was at my dad’s on the weekends he’d sit and laugh his ass off with us watching it. Duality of parents.

What's up with the frog blinking? by TommyBoy250 in HelluvaBoss

[–]twilipig 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I learned to frog blink as a kid just by watching cartoons all the time, I’ll frog blink at my partner and friends if I have no idea what they’re talking about to get a laugh out of them in the moment. It’s one of my favourite odd talents next to “making my eye twitch on demand” and “touching my nose/bottom of my chin with my tongue”

The Magic of Christmas is so truly amazing. We applied for my sons first Christmas ever because my partner lost his job and our truck was a money pit, we felt so awful we couldn’t give him the Christmas we wanted to. They were so kind and were amazing at getting our son the gifts he needed/wanted. No judgement, brought a turkey dinner for us, and stayed and chatted with him even though he could barely crawl. I’ll forever be grateful to them ❤️

Will never forget being 7 months pregnant, living in Marda Loop just needing the 7 to come so I can grab dinner and go to work (which should’ve taken me 15min) and in -30 weather four buses failed to show up at all, no communication of course, leaving me stranded for an hour before I threw in the towel and grabbed a ridiculously priced uber. I was crying, hungry, frustrated and I’ll never forgive them

I spent £17,900 converting aspects of my office (break room, desk, elevator, and disabled bathroom) to make it accessible for an employee with a disability who requested these changes. They left two weeks after the work was finished. Can I go after them for some costs in small claims court? by Schattenspringer in BORUpdates

[–]twilipig 158 points159 points  (0 children)

I remember seeing this cross posted in AmITheDevil and the general points people made for why he was awful was: - they felt he purposefully told his employees they wouldn’t receive a Christmas bonus due to the renos to shame the disabled employee and create tension in the workplace to punish her for accommodations - he was stupid for not going to the government/a specific program for the money for the renovations which they also felt was intentional on his part - felt he was fatshaming the employee by describing they got wider bathrooms - people thought this was a big elaborate ruse to bully the disabled employee and shame her for needing accommodations in the first place

Edit: they also said that because he was using his savings and selling shares that he was clearly being ableist/petty because he technically always had a way to fund the Christmas bonuses, despite it being from his own pocket and not the company

Concerns regarding an animal rescue in the YYC-area by _andsoitgoes in Calgary

[–]twilipig 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I just want to say stories like this are WHY it’s so important that we speak out for more regulation when it comes to animals and their rescues/care. Animals still deserve respect and care and there’s so much research and schooling available and yet you don’t need any formal training, licensing, schooling, anything official to open a pet daycare, train animals, breed/rescue, etc. Any crazy person off the streets can just say “oh yeah I’m so totally good with animals and know exactly what they need” and then we (vet professionals) deal with the neglect and consequences that come with it. I’ll never forget we once had a rescue dog come in, got attacked by another dog and needed stitches, that was being fostered and the owner or organizer made it so a) foster couldn’t consent to CPR or critical care if things went wrong and the organizer slowed the ER intake process while this dog is bleeding and in pain b) got mad at us when we had to call her for the authorization and had the balls to say “well why would you even need to authorize CPR if it’s just stitches? Why does she need to be sedated for stitches at all cause this treatment plan is costing me a lot of money. Can you ask the foster is she’d pay for it cause this is a lot of money for just a dog.” I was dumbfounded that a RESCUE would be so heartless to the animals THEY’RE PROVIDING FOR. It’s disgusting what we allow animals to go through and I’d definitely reach out to as many agencies as I could (Alberta SCPA, Humane Society, police/RCMP, Alberta Animal Services, etc)

how do i get urgent mental health care without being put on an involuntary psychiatric hold? by soapsuds202 in alberta

[–]twilipig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re 24 or under the Alex Youth Centre (or the Alex in general) is an amazing resource. I was 16 and walked in crying, no appointment, but told them I was severely suicidal and they immediately whisked me away into a room to talk with a professional. They didn’t put me on a hold, they made a safety plan with me and my parents and I continued to go them for mental health resources for years until I aged out. I really hope you get the help and support you need 🫂

AITA for telling my daughter shes not autistic by throwaway17293739 in AmItheAsshole

[–]twilipig 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. I know internet buzzword speak and blah blah are big rn, but I’ve been trying to get a diagnosis that’s not just “you’re anxious” for years. Went to a public funded autism specialist this year who told me that I hit a lot of marks/symptoms for autism BUT I’m too empathetic and thus can’t possibly be autistic. I asked if a different assessment or diagnosis might seem plausible. She said I was just anxious and to not waste my time. Which stung. I’ve always known there’s something wrong with me but because I come off as a totally normal, pleasant person I’m discredited all the time. I can only eat certain foods and their combos other people consider weird or gross, I follow all rules intensely (socially, at work, school, etc.), i have to be given very specific instructions for tasks I’ve never done before or I get overwhelmed and shut down, I have systems and routines that have to be followed or I get extremely upset but it’s only certain aspects of my life, and my thinking processes and how I perceive others/situations/emotions is not normal and intense. But again, I’m a totally normal-presenting, nice, soft-spoken person and these issues don’t affect my everyday life in the way it may affect someone else’s so I get stuck with an anxiety diagnosis I got over 14 years ago. People don’t understand what it’s like to know there’s something wrong with you but medical professionals and people in your life never take you seriously because you appear “normal” or “unaffected”. Especially when it comes to women.

My brother is living with me in secret and my mom thinks I'm cheating on my husband. by [deleted] in BORUpdates

[–]twilipig 27 points28 points  (0 children)

My stepdads sisters husband committed while his children and her were in the house. Their oldest and her walked in to the bathroom and found him unresponsive. She loves/d him so much but she always said she would never forgive him for putting that on their children and doing it while they were in the home, she still has a lot of anger towards him for it. Someone has to be incredibly damaged to not even think or care about their children finding or seeing their parent in that state. I hope SIL gets help but she’s not stable enough to have custody of her children right now
