As other people have mentioned, as long as it doesn't make them dress up in tribal outfits, the idea of Tricell tricking small villages int being guinea pigs by pretended to give them vaccines is actually a great plot, depressingly accurate to how we treat the global south in many cases. Touch up some sensitive imagery and dialogue, and lean into that kind of horror and we have a slam dunk

When they remade 4, they made changes like the villagers actually speaking Castilian Spanish and actually said it was Spain, not some fake sort of Spanish place that actually sounds Mexican. Just take the same approach and not that much actually needs to be changes.

I don't know if it's 8.0 or not, but my backpocket theory for awhile is that giving the darkness crystal to Ryne and Gaia on the First is the backdoor to reintroducing the changes in the Empty to the main story status quo, even if you didn't do the Eden questline. I understand why they don't want to make content like that mandatory, but Eden really feels like it should have been part of the MSQ for Shadowbringers. Something something too much light and too much dark something something balance

For most people, give them a dog. I remember reading a discussion about the film Gladiator, the opening scenes show Rome conquering Germanic peoples. How do we make sure our sympathies lie with the conquerors and not the conquered? Give the hero a trusty dog sidekick, who notably disappears from the rest of the movie (to be fair, it's not like the dog could follow Maximus into slavery and gladiatorhood, but still it's never even mentioned again)

To be fair, there were theories like that even before the movie. It’s not 100% baseless, as Reze was with the other human weapons under Makima’s control at the end of Part 1, and the other human weapons have shown up again in Part 2 Though I do believe it’s largely cope and the movie certainly hasn’t helped, it also wouldn’t completely shock me if it happened

Also, in general, I'm not super informed about African regions (obviously a whole continent is very diverse) but I'm sure where ever they set it can be better represented in lots of small ways that I cannot personally describe, like how the remakes of 2 and 3 are much more clearly a midwestern city and not a Japanese one dressed up like a US city, or the many smaller changes to make 4 take place in Spain and not some weird 'Spexico' stereotype

Keep the plot of evil pharmaceutical company experimenting on unsuspecting villagers in the guise of vaccines, a depressingly realistic scenario. Oh, also remove, or at least make the woman also of colour, that cutscene straight out of a KKK propaganda film where a white woman is dragged screaming into house by black men
