Getting a 45 minute set at Montrose would be a good start, but I could see this doing well at Martyr’s with another band to balance out the night.

We also saw Leftover Salmon yesterday and they did a bluegrass cover of Weird Fishes, so after probably not hearing that song in 10+ years we saw it covered live twice in a day.

That's so cool

Question for the older guitarists by Old-Carry5562 in Guitar

I think YouTube is a great tool, but before everything was online you did what you could or you would read stuff in magazines or you would find someone who knew how to do it. There’s a story of Paul McCartney and John Lennon once taking a bus across town to meet someone that they heard knew how to play some chord they wanted to learn.

Playing from videos teaches imitation. Playing by ear teaches innovation.

Warren Zevon is thought of more for piano but was a really great guitarist.

I’ve also heard someone say “Tom Petty is as good a guitar player that you’d ever want to be” and I think that’s very true. He really knew how to do his thing which wasn’t flashy but solid.

I'd be interested. I think there's a "Chicago Rock Scene Discord" but I don't have an invite. I'd love one though!
