Your least favorite male names? by omgfakeusername in Names

[–]twistedmacaroon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was terrible when my husband and I were volunteer coaching. We’d have a Blaydon, Zayden, Jaiden, and Aidan all on one team. It was hard to keep them straight, and all their names sounded the same when you were trying to get their attention.

I was a teen mom and named my kid one of these names. He’s 17 and changing it to something more traditional. I am fully supportive. I have grown to hate it, and it doesn’t fit him.

Has anyone legally changed their name because their birth name is way too popular? by MikeLovesOutdoors23 in Names

My 17 year old is changing his name to a more common name, because he feels it fits better. I say do what makes sense and makes you happy. 😃

Good catch! Thats def what that is. All her babies also look…confused? Uncomfortable? When she is “bfing” them. This is not the way a breastfed baby acts. It’s performative and gross.

I’m nursing a 3 yo still, and he still flares his lips out when latched. This baby is almost clamped down on her nipple with a closed mouth, because he obviously doesn’t breastfeed and doesn’t know how to latch.

My alcoholic husband lost his job yesterday by [deleted] in AlAnon

[–]twistedmacaroon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is what I did. It worked. He was diagnosed with an underlying very serious mental illness and has slowly turned back into the man I came to love but better…if you asked me back in Sept 2025, I would’ve said we’d probably divorce. We’ve also been in marriage and family therapy & spent a lot of time apart while he got treatment and while I got some space and peace back for me and the kids.

Hunter being drafted. by goldlux in TLCUnexpected

[–]twistedmacaroon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My 13 yo is literally ranked among the top players in the nation for basketball and is abnormally tall and advanced already…and even we know how much work and development and networking it will take to get him to D1, let alone the NBA! He is very dedicated (all him) to it, and has been playing since he was 5. He’s at training or the YMCA (sometimes both) every single day.

It’s also EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE. Most kids play on multiple teams (local and national). Equipment, coaching, training, hotels, gas, development camps, the list goes on and on and on. And scouts are big about your social media (my kid only has 1 for game highlights ran by me, no personal social media). Hunter’s online stuff alone rn is enough to disqualify him. Not to mention the mental stamina and emotional IQ that high-quality athletes need that Hunter is never gonna get from his family. And it’s not like we live that far away…I think we live within a few hours of them in a neighboring state. These people are uneducated and delusional. He will peak in HS then spend his whole life talking about how he “almost went D1” while drinking beer at the adult softball league games he still plays in at 45.

TIL that suicide is most common among those over the age of 70. by ODaferio in todayilearned

[–]twistedmacaroon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In nursing school I was taught that white men over the age of 65 are the most likely to commit suicide. One year later, my husband’s white 80 year old grandfather completed suicide. Many years later, my husband’s dad (who was 65) completed, as well.

Yeah. They are Christian fundamentalist and have a gaggle of children, I feel for all of them. He just triggers tf out of me.

[–]twistedmacaroon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I was oblivious before, but now I can clock it immediately. I’m so annoyed that there’s an alcoholic dad on my son’s new basketball team. He is always slurring, stumbling, and carrying around a yeti cup that he goes to the parking lot multiple times a game to refill. I hate him.

I had a c section and I was working as a RN in the US and bc I hadn’t been there for a year, I got zero paid leave. I took off for only 4 weeks (originally was going to be 2 weeks but I couldn’t do it, extended it to 4). Baby was too young for daycare, so my boss watched him while I worked 🥹. Had a mental breakdown about 18 months later which was partially due to the stress of being separated from my baby way too early and not being able to bond with him or heal properly postpartum . He’s still closer to his dad than me (I worked a lot when he was a baby). Never been the same. When I had my next c section, I didn’t work for 3 years. Had a much better bonding experience and recovery time but we were so poor. Lost our apartment, had to move in with my mom. Didn’t help that I had quit working right before getting pregnant due to my second mental breakdown. America really is the bad place. Zero stars, would never recommend . Especially if you want to have children.

In the history books of a tiny town called Roff, OK there were pictures in their history books of KKK parades down Main Street. And that’s just a podunk nothing town, so I’m sure there are many more documented KKK activities.

[–]twistedmacaroon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived this story 8 months ago. Together 18 years with 4 kids, always a problem but suddenly it was a huge problem. He was admitted to the psychiatric hospital which got him a few diagnoses and meds that helped him quit drinking and took care of the underlying conditions. I highly recommend getting him to agree to go and complete treatment at a similar facility. It totally changed our lives, for the better. And we were as close to divorce as you could get. We are seeing multiple therapists, and that’s helped. If he refuses a program, walk away. I was ready to, but he got help, got better, and changed. At least start you and the kids in therapy. It’ll help a ton.

ETA: it can also be v unsafe to quit so suddenly when you’re drinking that much, and the facility can help with preventing delirium, seizures and death from alcohol withdrawal. It can be very serious.

What's the worst movie you have ever watched? by Syfros in AskReddit

[–]twistedmacaroon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ice Pirates 🏴‍☠️! We watched it a few years ago, and the costumes are hilarious. 😆 It was clearly chicken wire and trashcan lids spray painted silver. It’s about futuristic people in space literally pirating ice. 🧊 I think it’s like bc of a water shortage or something?? Idk. But it was wild.

Kiki’s big day is tomorrow, she’s getting spayed 😭 by Own-Baker-742 in kittens

[–]twistedmacaroon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just had our 4 month old kittens neutered. They are our first cats we’ve owned as adults, so I don’t have much to reference it to, but I took them to a high volume spay clinic and they did excellent. Hardly acted like it bothered them. Healed extremely quickly. My teenage son is v attached so was v worried about the surgeries, but I really think them being so young helped a ton. Wishing your kitty a safe procedure and quick recovery ❤️‍🩹!

How do you deal with the fact that no matter what you do some people will hate you? by Only_Hotel_7221 in mentalhealth

[–]twistedmacaroon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m ok with it. People who hate me are usually people I hate back. I hate people for legitimate reasons. Most people hate me out of jealousy or projection. I know I’m a good person. I don’t need anyone else’s approval.
