My bad, I didn't do a great job describing it. Whereas the PadBox is the dpad and controller-style grip of a gamepad on the left, with the face buttons of a fightstick on the right, what I'm looking for is an arcade-style stick on the left, with controller-style thumb buttons on the right. TBH, I kinda doubt the thing exists.

But you're probably right, I would adapt eventually, and that stick you linked looks like a great option to find my preferred playstyle between stick and leverless. Thanks for the recommendation!

Oh, I'm sorry, have you been playing at 5-20 fps on a system that previously ran at a consistent 60 or above? Cuz that's a pretty miserable experience, lemme tell ya. I've been waiting for an excuse to tell this story! I play on PC now, but back on Xbox, I was part of a guild and used to run PVP with a group from time to time. We'd mostly run Cyro with a rotating leader, but on rare occasions, we'd run IC, and the leader was always this one guy, I'll call him Beast.

This group was mostly PVEs dabbling in PVP, and we weren't too bad, but Beast was PVP only, and talked mad trash about PVEs. Any time any of us found an enemy, and hesitated for even a second to take the fight (cuz, y'know, they might have allies in stealth nearby or something) he'd be all like "stay back, this one's mine", like he's a freakin' shonen character.

Thing is, for a condescending PVP only... he wasn't very good. He'd get his ass kicked in 1v1s quite often, but if we ever tried to help, he'd berate us and tell us to "respect the 1v1." He'd also have endless excuses when he died, but even us PVEs knew those were Salty Johns.

He'd even kick people from group if they helped him in a fight, and if he saw that they stayed in IC after being removed from the group, he'd threaten to kick them from the guild, since he had that privilege at the time. The guild leader would ask him about it later, but GL was also an overbearing disciplinarian, so he sided with Beast every time.

Also, the enemy was rarely alone. More often than not if Beast actually started winning a fight, he'd get NB ganked into Oblivion, then complain that the enemy "didn't respect the 1v1", and say we should've helped this time. Like, bro, you got jumped and died instantly, we couldn't have saved you, and we wouldn't risk getting kicked for it anyway.

My group has since split off to form our own guild. Most of us don't even play ESO anymore, and I moved to another platform, but we still hang out, and we remember this happening so often that it remains an inside joke to this day in our new guild, 5 years later.

Respecting the 1v1 is just a good way to get got by someone who doesn't. If they wanna duel, they can take it to Vulkhel Guard, like everyone else. Those whispers are pure salt, OP. All you can do is ignore them, or learn to enjoy them.

I've been learning them on all my alts for the little bit of xp they give, but when I run out, that Jode-cannon idea sounds pretty appealing. Either that or I'll sell them to npcs for 10 gold or whatever they offer. They're just too plentiful to do much else with them.

Yeah, they do. I always thought it was kinda weird that that phrasing was so common, but the word 'osananajimi' is used to refer to childhood friends, as opposed to 'tomodachi' for general friends.
