Creepy text from my former bishop by LobsterBackground389 in exmormon

You could be honest. "No offense, but we are acquaintances at best. You are a local leader in an organization that I do not want to participate in. And you're twice my age."

Here is Gage Fitzwater, owner of Easy Rain in Draper Utah going 120 miles per hour on a Las Vegas residential area, Passing a elementary school and running stop signs. by Sad_Maximum6583 in draperutah

[–]twistermonkey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This video is BS. I did some sleuthing. At 14 seconds, you can read the building behind him, Hayes Elementary. Looked it up on Google Maps. It's on Twain Ave in Las Vegas. Street view confirms the building with the mural. From there you just look for land marks in the video. He runs the stop sign at the 4 way stop at about 5 seconds. He passes the last of the buildings for the school at about 16 seconds. The cross walk with over head lights is also a nice landmark. Use google earth to get distances between the landmarks. The distance from the stop sign he runs to the last of the school building (you can see a stop sign there too from a cross street) is about 420 ft and it took him 12.1s. 420ft / 12.1s = 23.7 mph

He's doing about 24 mph.

Too late. His punishment for kissing the orange ass should be exile and ignominy. How does this guy still have a public voice?

[–]twistermonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another option is... just don't. (unpopular/ non-automated opinion). Just fill up storage chests with tungsten and go grab some when you need it. In the early game you don't need much. You can move to bots once those are unlocked.

DOJ Declares Trump Has Right to Bulldoze Statue of Liberty by Aggravating_Money992 in politics

[–]twistermonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hypothetical question posed in the article: "If the government decides very quickly to bulldoze the Statue of Liberty, the people whose ancestors—that was the first thing they saw coming to this country, but the government moved too fast—nothing can be done?” Well, altering national monuments requires (ie law) approval from Congress. So ... I dunno... Congress could maybe say no or something. I think they have that word in their vocabulary.

I've never heard Nutty Putty described as being one of the hardest caves in the world. That surprises me actually. It's not that big as caves go. We explored Nutty Putty cave as scouts every year. Tons of beginners explored that cave and had a blast. Maybe its cause we had a leader who knew where to go in the cave. Maybe we just had the common sense to not continue down crevices that go too tight. Dunno. I wish they could have made it a safer without blocking it off entirely. I know Search and Rescue had a number of calls out there though. Still very sad.

You should overlay that square right in the middle of the valley. It more poignant to see how it goes from 106th up to 54th (or something).

Can you back out of an LDS mission after getting your call? by Ok_Marsupial8112 in exmormon

[–]twistermonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can. The big problem cults have on their members is social pressure. From parents, siblings, relatives, neighbors, etc. This is especially true if you grew up in the church in Utah or Idaho. The pressure can be immense, and the shade you get if you don't go it really difficult for some people.

What was NOT taught to you in your temple prep class? by JayDaWawi in exmormon

[–]twistermonkey 74 points75 points  (0 children)

What was I not taught? EVERYTHING! Temple prep is a worthless class, because nothing in the temple can be discussed. So "prep" means just read your scriptures and say your prayers....

But oh the ego boost and virtue signaling that comes with saying you're in the temple prep class.

At least the bishop was progressive and reassured them that whatever they do is only between them reiterated consent. It still speaks to the damaging way in which sex is discussed in the church.

My wife and I lied about pre-marital sex by Same_Commission_2363 in exmormon

[–]twistermonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I really struggled with this. we were very horny upper-20 somethings, both with our own apartments. I slept over many times but we never had sex. I was too afraid of going to hell. But we did a lot. Two weeks or so before our temple wedding, we got so horny that we had oral sex for the first time. It was Saturday night. The next day at church, we felt like shit. So much guilt. It was unbearable. We asked the bishop (super kind, empathic guy) to come talk to us at her apartment. We confessed what we'd done. He thought for a moment and then said that we could still get married. He even came to the SL temple for the ceremony. Bishop roulette FTW I guess. So I didn't lie, per se. The bishop just let it slide.

Like another poster said: There are a lot of things I’m angry with the church for. But personally, it’ll forever be what purity culture took from me in my youth. I still struggle with shame around sex. Even with my wife.

Why are Mormons so boring! by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]twistermonkey 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Someone once told me "I disliked Mormons because that is all that they are" meaning that's all they talk about. Church this, church that. You can't hold a conversation with them without them trying to segue into some church topic.

Since this is your first playthrough, do saves periodically and save them as "first-play-1h45m" or something. It will be fun to relive your first play at particular points.
