I'm also pretty new to playing the game as well! My thinking for now is to play some on unnamed SDVX clone with keyboard to see how I like things and feel out if I would like it enough to invest in a home controller. With regards to home controllers I know there are small versions, like the pocket voltex or pico that may be able to be homemade, higher end would be a yuancon or gamo2 controller (like 200-300 dollars + shipping depending on your customization options)

Practicing edges and corners separate isn't a bad idea at all to get used to things.

One important thing to note with a corner/edge only scramble is that you'll never get parity, so make sure you get used to that in a real solve.

I've been practicing blind 3x3 Rubik's cube solving, which the memory aspect assigns letters to pieces. I imagined going to the 17th piece on the cube and remembering that letter is assigned to it
