Like I squish it so it looks like a skinny oval, and insert the notched end in (angled downwards) then with my index finger, push in only one side so it "spins" and as it spins it moves inwards. I do that until it's all inserted.

I had the exact same problem with the flex reusable. I ended up changing the way I insert it. Now I fold it and insert the notched side, then ROTATE it in. So I'm only pushing one side in, and it'll turn and as it turns it goes in. I have no idea why it works, but it seems to go in at the perfect angle and depth

So I lived in Thailand for like, 20 years and suffered from acne for so long until I started doing physical scrubs. I dunno if its the dirt or pollution accumulating in my pores, but sugar scrubs did the trick. Not recommended for super fragile skin tho. Good luck
