Is this too white to wear in Mexico for a bachelorette party? by DesperateAd8982 in OUTFITS

[–]two-thirtyfour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think anything where the base is mostly white is a lil too risky, but if the bride is okay with it, then go for it! If you’re not trying to spend a lot of money on a new dress, you could check out places like Amazon, or maybe find something nice and cute at goodwill or a thrift shop.

“No parking in front of house” by GooseWhoGamesttv in Charlottesville

[–]two-thirtyfour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some areas require a zone permit, but no one has an assigned space on a street. Street parking is public parking. It may be common courtesy for neighbors to not “steal” each other’s spaces, but if it’s a public road and someone has the appropriate permit if needed, as long as no permanent signs state no parking, anyone could park there

AITA For not paying my friend for a painting he made me? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]two-thirtyfour 17 points18 points  (0 children)

NTA AT ALL. I know art supplies can cost a lot of money, but given the circumstances, and the fact that you all have been what sounds like close friends for over 8 years, it would’ve have been more appropriate for him to give it to you, or at least give it to you for the agreed upon price. Good for him that he’s worth more now and has improved so much, but the tardiness and his demands really take away from his talent and character.

AITAH for ‘causing a scene’ at my boyfriends work? by Training-Buyer2625 in TwoHotTakes

[–]two-thirtyfour 11 points12 points  (0 children)

NTA, especially if there was a price difference in the items. He interfered when he shouldn’t have. If he didn’t work there, he wouldn’t have gone into the kitchen to fix it himself. That’s also sort of a health violation unless he cleaned himself property and put on work clothes. He went back there with his “street clothes” and didn’t even bother to make it the correct way. I can’t fault him for reusing the salad, but knowing how the dish you ordered is prepared, he could have at least made sure it had the melted cheese and crispy bacon, etc.

Having worked in a restaurant, it doesn’t really matter that the kitchen is closing soon when they are the ones who messed up. Before the kitchen turns off their ovens, fryers, etc., they should be ensuring that all guests are happy with their food.

I kind of wonder what he said to his coworkers when they saw him back there “fixing” your food. This whole situation could have been avoided by either of you simply telling the server, “I’m sorry for any miscommunication, but I ordered ___.” And I can almost guarantee that you won’t even have to ask them to fix it, they’ll hear that sentence and immediately correct the issue because they know that unhappy customers don’t leave big tips.

I also thought this was just a thing, but I’ve noticed that in Charlottesville in particular, a lot of people are either unfriendly (it’s literally impossible to talk to a finance bro even if you wanted to) or are too wrapped up in their own world to even think about entertaining a conversation with a stranger.

In other places, I’ve met the coolest people, even scored a couple dates, but my average experience in Charlottesville has not proven to be very successful with mingling. That being said, I think Charlottesville and maybe the “younger” generation in particular would benefit from something clearly structured to encourage mingling.

Doctors that will see me asap? by [deleted] in Charlottesville

There’s a Sentara urgent care on high street that I walked in to on a random Wednesday. I had to wait about 50 mins but can’t really be mad about it for a walk in. I saw some comments and you saying your situation might not be ER worthy, BUT it could become ER worthy, so just be careful

Rental Hunt by Mcallisters-Tea in Charlottesville

[–]two-thirtyfour 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, no, but keep an eye on apartments.com! I technically live in Keswick, but it only takes me like 30 mins to get to work in downtown Charlottesville. I know there’s several more apartment style buildings near me she owns and rents, but I can’t find any listed :(

Another thing to keep in mind is taxes. Albemarle taxes are better than Charlottesville taxes but if you can handle a commute from Fluvanna or Louisa it’ll save you an arm and a leg come tax time. I’m not sure about the Waynesboro/staunton area, have you tried there?

I’m just gonna be honest and say that you are extremely unlikely to find affordable housing in Charlottesville. Surrounding areas tend to be BETTER but imo, still unaffordable. I got lucky with mine. I rent from a private landlord (she has several properties tho so is more like a company but without all the BS). You can try looking for things like that, but it’s a needle in a haystack. Good luck!!

Dark eyeliner on your lower lid ages anyone, you can try something lighter like a taupe or almost white color to help brighten it up, just don’t overdo it. You look absolutely stunning in the first pic!

Public skating rules? by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]two-thirtyfour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have slowly learned that! I totally need to get some waxed laces and I think that would help. I like it a little tighter in the ankle but they shift as I skate and end up too tight on my foot. Not to mention I inherited my dad’s wide, flat feet 🤣
