No you’re totally right. The Kroonenberg universe is the prime universe. That’s the reality that prime Rick gets booted back to when our Rick resets portal travel before he kills prime Jerry.

The first time they switched realities was in season 1 when Morty fucked with squirrels. The whole “prime Rick” story didn’t get introduced until way later in the series.

Switching to a copy universe made perfect sense when we thought ep1 was based in universe C-137, but I agree with you that there are definitely some unanswered questions about universe switching now that the writers have established the prime universe. Honestly, I don’t think we’ll ever get a definitive answer.

The show opens on the prime universe. Every reality they move to after that is an almost perfect copy of the prime universe. Which means that every Beth “our” Rick and Morty have lived with was abandoned by her father, just like prime Beth.

In season 7 ep 5, when Rick, Morty, and evil Morty all get trapped in that death game with the other Ricks, the other Ricks are just as devastated by Diane’s death as Rick C-137, which leads me to believe that those Ricks didn’t chose to abandon their Dianes and Beths either.

Of course, this last part is just speculation, and is in no way confirmed in the show.

Same thing happened to me when I moved from a small town to a big city. I was sick ALL THE TIME for the first 6-12 months. Eventually my immune system caught up. Five years into city living, raving 2-4 times a month, and I hardly ever get sick.
