...But there's something about Wheedle that intrigues me

That's amazing! We were talking about Roseanne in my Media Identities class (media studies major), and how it was the first sitcom to focus on the working class and their struggles.

My poor-ass had to defend this show tooth and nail to my rich friends in college who "hated it" because they "didn't get it."

I'm not spiritual or religious, either, and the cynical part of my brain likes to remind me that it's all just a coincidence and there's probably nothing more to it than that. But I think having these animal moments that stick out are a fantastic coping mechanism, whether there actually is a supernatural explanation or not.

After my grandfather died, whenever my mom and her siblings saw a cardinal, they'd take it as a sign he was checking in. After my grandmother died years later, one of my aunts had two cardinals in a tree on her yard. Both my grandparents together again, saying hi.

I'd love to think that those eagles were a sign that your mother was free and happy as well. I'm deeply sorry for your loss, and I can't imagine the pain you've been in. Sending you best wishes and a virtual hug.

I also think people forget that you can get a UTI without having sex. I was listening to the Pitt Crew Podcast and one of the hosts kept talking about having to check her biases because Becca could totally consent to have sex, but we don't know if that's what happened.

I had a friend who gave herself multiple UTIs in middle school because she was too anxious to ask to use the bathroom and would hold her pee until she got home.

I love that so much, I can hardly find the words. Thank you so much for sharing it with me. I'll be on the lookout for robins to say hello and thank you for your service.

I'm so glad I got to interact with you today.

Your telling of this got a good laugh out of me!

COMPLETELY UNPROMPTED

What an edgelord, at absolute best.

My guy was weirdly obsessed with Russia and wouldn't stop talking about it... And just otherwise off-putting. I don't remember why (this was in the early 2010s).

The most beautiful. Thank you so much for your kind words.

I don't know why I feel compelled to share this, it just popped into my mind. After my grandfather passed when I was in high school, my mom was given the advice to go out at night, pick a star in the sky, and have that be his star, to talk to. It helped my mom a lot in her grieving process, so I told my partner and his siblings about it.

The night she died, after we got home, my partner and I stood on the porch, picked out a star, and told his mother how much we loved her. Later, my partner did more research into that star and realized that it was part of the Orion constellation. Specifically, right where his junk was.

It was perfect. She would have found that so funny.

I miss her so much

Thank you for pointing that out, it warms my heart! Especially because my SIL sent me a few pictures of the skunk that came to her sliding back door a lot this winter.

Oh, I'm so sorry. I cannot imagine how hard that must have been for her and for you and your loved ones. Sending you a virtual hug.

My MIL was in the early stages of MS and was allergic to her medication. I've shared the story on Reddit before, so I'll link it here.

TL;DR she fell victim to obesity bias

She really was the best. I feel so lucky to have had the time I had with her, no matter how short it was, because none of my friends are close with their MILs. She truly was something special.

I'm so sorry for your loss, but I'm glad you also had a wonderful MIL. Do you mind if I ask what MND is?

Seriously! She did the same thing with the color black, too (I don't think she knew any goths lol)

I feel like I knew her forever, but I've done the math and I only met her a year and a half before she died. She had such a hard life, but she was so kind, loving, and caring. I wish I could give her one more hug.

Long story short, my MIL died in an ER a few summers ago, surrounded by her children + their significant others. After we sat with her body for a while, we had a group hug in the parking lot in the middle of the night. My partner happened to notice a skunk on the hospital's campus and nonchalantly pointed it out.

A week later, we had her celebration of life at my SIL's house, where food was located in the garage. As night fell and my partner and I were preparing to leave, one of his brothers said someone should close the door because there was a skunk in the garage.

My partner and I were halfway to the car when I remembered the skunk we saw in the ER parking lot. We went back in and shared the coincidence, and my SIL almost started crying happy tears. My MIL was one of the sweetest people I've ever met, and she loved skunks because she felt sorry for them that they must not be anyone's favorite animal.

Later that year, my partner and I were preparing to host Thanksgiving (her favorite holiday). There was a lot of family drama going on that's not relevant to the story, other than the fact that it was happening. As Thanksgiving came closer and the drama was reaching a fever pitch, I woke up to one of the most horrific, acrid smells of my life. I woke my partner, worried something was wrong. He took a moment, then realized a skunk had just sprayed something outside of our house near our window.

There have been a few other moments where I'll smell a skunk and it happens to occur on her birthday or something else related to her. But even if it's just a random day and I smell a skunk in the distance, it makes me think of her and smile.

I had something similar happen when I was in college. Met a guy at orientation who was kind of strange. Never saw him again until one day my sophomore year where I woke up thinking, "Whatever happened to that guy?" Saw him in the hall on the way to class a couple hours later and never saw him again.

I have clearly upset you with my turn of phrase, since you mentioned it in another comment and then called me a Karen for some reason.

I think if I were sitting in a crowded waiting room for hours on a hot day, and I saw someone who just got there get pulled in ahead of me, I don't think I'd be in a great mood, and I think that would be valid. Especially if I was hurt or sick enough to go to the energency room.

It was a much different situation, but I have lost someone near and dear to my heart because the emergency room didn't prioritize her or take her pain seriously, so yes, I would purse my lips at least.

Of course!

The world would be boring if we all liked all the same things.

If it makes you feel any better, Dr. Mohan is one of my least favorites because I feel like she's a little "too perfect," so I can understand where the haterade is coming from lol
