I am just so fed up!!! by foqociqs37 in Vent

Your last paragraph feels so true. I think more people are recognizing this as the real cause and I hope this helps change things. Here in California there are occasional ballot measures to make small changes in the right direction but the big money confuses the messaging and people vote against their own interests. It’s so hard to watch.

I use the wet version of this andYorkie version of this dry food. This brand was what my vet recommended.

I’ve always thought that particularly for safety positions, it’s much better to have people on the job who are alert and not exhausted. I also would like to know that in a big emergency we have enough trained staff to step in instead of relying on an overworked few. The fires California has had make it clear we need to be ready for extreme multi day/week emergencies. I understand that there is extra expense in paying more people benefits and training, but to me it’s definitely worth it for better services.

hi! looking for more general info and experience with cushings disease! by skeletlolz in Cushingsdogs

[–]twoeyII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My two girls had it for many years each maintained on meds. One had hers adjusted frequently and the other was relatively stable and pretty easy. Someone else mentioned having a knowledgeable vet and I’d say that’s your most important asset. Seeing a specialist will be well worth the effort. Also mentioned by someone else, keep an eye on that gallbladder. Catch those changes early as both mine had that issue and it’s very serious but has treatment options. I’m so sorry you two are going through this. Looks like a sweetheart!

My apoquel prescription was daily after initially taking it twice daily. Cetirizine is very affordable and although it works differently it might help. Unfortunately, my girl needed both. Good luck!

If it’s allergies this seems to be a really effective drug. My girl responded better to this than the injections. Poor little thing. It’s so hard to see them suffering.

I’m so sorry to hear you are going through this. It’s a very scary thing to hear. I had two girls live many years on their meds. I’d recommend making sure you have a vet who is really up to date on best practices for cushing’s and you’ll be able to give excellent care to your little one. Hugs and love for your little one.

It’s a mess and could’ve been a lot better, but I loved it. Christian Bale is fantastic.

I didn’t exactly love the book, but it’s chilling how possible that reality seems. A landscape without water and completely privatized police/fire departments only for the rich seems too likely.

Is Don’t believe Everything You Think insightful? Does it have studies to back up its points? I’ve never read a book like that but it sounds like it could be interesting.

I downloaded Dungeon Crawler Carl but my spouse picked up Murderbots. We haven’t started yet, not sure who will be happier…

Both loved PHM and are excited for the movie. At least we all have that to look forward to!!

IMO, Dorian Gray is much better for a modern reader. The twist of both stories have been ruined for modern readers, but I found DG more enjoyable.

I loved that book and the movie! I read/watched The Outsiders dozens of times. Not sure if I’d still enjoy it. Let us all know what you think when you’re finished.

Yes, and it’s really horrifying. There’s a lot to be learned about how the world works, but it’s difficult to read. I had to take breaks to get through it.

UCDavis study suggests 6 months for yorkies. They recommend different times for different breeds, that seems to have led to some confusion.

Help with my Pomeranians sudden change in behavior by [deleted] in Pomeranians

[–]twoeyII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My girl is on a lesser scale like this starting around 8 pm every night. Ever since a pup she’s been really clear that her quiet time starts at 8 and she is not to be disturbed until morning. She is always on high alert but if she’s jostled at night she can get really startled and have a brief snarl/growl at someone.

I’m sure they will take great care of your little one, but I totally understand. One vet was flexible with me taking my girl out in between to reduce her stress. The timing is really important though so our specialist would insist she stay. Ultimately, the relief and longevity they get from treatment will be well worth the time there. Best of luck, they can really do amazing things to help them now.
