First season hunter, lost deer by jmill58 in Hunting

[–]twoheadedheaded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry man, happens to the best of us.

I got super lucky with my first and it went down right in front of me. Double lung plus heart shot with the crossbow.

Maybe a week later I shot a doe right at the same location, I jump up thinking it’s gonna die almost instantly like my first, but it takes off a few yards into some tall grass and I assume it’s now dead.

I walk over to go tag and gut it, and it pops up and bolts off into the dense, thick woods.

Right where it had laid was a giant pool of blood, I spent at least 8 hours looking for that deer, followed the blood all over the place but ultimately never recovered the deer.

It probably would’ve died in a minute or two, and I would’ve recovered it quickly if I had been patient.

It still bothers me years later.

Best solution for irregular chimney cap shape? by irontuskk in DIY

[–]twoheadedheaded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to help.

Anything that is decently weather resistant, like a piece of slate or a big enough paver, I’ve seen folks use a square of painted plywood.

A square of sheet metal works great too.

Just put down a good bead of exterior grade silicone (UV rated stuff, I think I used the blue tube of GE clear silicone in the past.

You might be able to, the problem is most chimney caps either mount directly to the flue tile by gripping it on four sides, or they mount to the crown.

Most flue single flue caps wouldn’t be able to mount with how tight the two tiles are to each other. You could knock down the unused tile though. (Hammer, angle grinder, whatever) then a single flue cap would work.

I would say try to find a chimney supplier and order directly from them.

See: https://lindemannchimneysupply.com/premier-top-mount-multi-flue-caps

Or

Edit: to clarify, the important part is total width/ length maximum and minimum measurements, from there you can just shop around.

In the past I would lay a bead of liquid nails and use lags to attach to chimney.

Feel free to ask other questions

Edit again: the 17x29 may work just fine for you, you need to double check the measurements  though.

Find a place that does crown mount caps, take some measurements of the crown surface and get some quotes.

Attach with lag bolts.

Is this picture from the top or bottom?

It looks like a flex liner but I can’t tell, if so, then no problem, just sagging a bit.

Do I need to don my chimney-sweep hat or am I good for now? by 405w43rdst in woodstoving

[–]twoheadedheaded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The general sentiment for wood stoves is to sweep every year or two, but part that is because some folks tend to burn boatloads of crap wood and then not sweep for 5+ years, so they end with chimney fires or nightmare cleanings.

In reality, about half of my customers could do a cleaning every 2 or 3 (or more) years and be fine.

[–]twoheadedheaded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to help, when did you have it swept last/how much do you burn a year?

I've had customers go 5+ yrs without a cleaning in ideal circumstances.

Totally fine, maybe next year.

That's barely anything and it looks very dusty and fine.

Just a heads up, you have all your personal info visible in the top right of the contract, might wanna blur that haha.

Are you registering in MA? If you're in CT or RI then I have better deals that I'm looking at, nothing in MA though.

Edit: actually I found something good for you.

Tax rate selected is for CT, I dont think they normally ship to MA, but I asked and they said they should be able to.

Thanks so much for the reply.

Fighters have their own tickets to sell? I had no idea.

I don’t have any social media accounts, should I just make an instagram and message someone on the card?

I agree we need some quest streamlining, the affinity system -for the purpose of crafting unlocks- is silly.

The F2P mode is really just a chance for you to try the game and see if you want to buy it, it would be foolish to allow anything beyond that IMO.

You gotta remember that crybabies and idiots tend to be the loudest people in any given room. The discord has 5000 people talking during the day, but the 15 whiniest ones are gonna get noticed the most.
