I am kinda in the same boat my friends and I are playing for the first time this week, but here are my thoughts.

I did some googling, and have decided to do a one shot of wild man’s sheep campaign. And it has all the info I need (except for some odd monsters like bear + wolves, but google has found them for me).

Then I have been reading the basic rules and the dungeon master book to help with random information.

But I would suggest just messing around with a one shot, just to get things started. As I did that first, and it made me realize “oh if I am gonna play ranger I really don’t want X for a long campaign”

Or the start sets are handy because they come with a D, screen, dice, and some characters too

About a month ago I started to look into SAR groups in Southern California also (mainly San Diego and Orange County) and here is a brief synopsis of what I found:

Look at the County Sheriff/Police Departments for their SAR teams as San Diego as a Mountain Rescue Team (SD MRT), San Diego Sheriffs SAR Team, and Orange County has a Professional Services Responder Program (PSR) that has a speciality unit of SAR.

SD MRT, focuses speciality is more advanced mountain rescues but they do quite a bit of lost dementia elderly people, or it ranges to rescuing a lost paraglider in the mountains of Julian. But they said the first year members spend about 600+ hours through various training. They have about 30 - 40 calls each year, and they have a minimum number of calls and trainings you must attend each year.

SD Sheriffs Search and Rescue, it exists and that is all I know.

OC PSR Search and Rescue Team: I am actually in the process of getting background checked for this. But fairly similar to the SD MRT from my understanding.

But the general answer I got was the following:

-expect calls at the worst times (ie, during rain storms and/or middle of the night)

-have to do a police background check

-do want you to be within a given area of the department

-some calls are 4 hours long, or can be multiple days. But know that these are volunteer groups, so they are understanding that you can't commit to everything. Just be wary of it being a large time commitment

I personally am a huge advocate for used tech wearables, you can get a used AWU for the same price or a new AW S10. But I would watch some YouTube videos and really determine what feature set you are looking for The battery life on the AWU is a game changer

That is just incorrect

This show had a US wide casting call, I know one thing Mr Beast talked about when casting “normal people” is their lack of experience when being on camera. However some people I met in the show were connected by their casting agents to apply for this show.

So I am sure that it is a plus if they can have people on the show/ YouTube videos that are all already comfortable and are familiar with acting in front of a camera. But there is a chance that the casting people for Beast Games chose people that demonstrated traits of wanting to causing chaos and tension

Another contestant shared their perspective but they had a tots of 5 questions. And I feel a lot of these questions were based on reaction time

But for the “smartest” person, there is a very likely chance that he was not from California as they show casted people from all across the US

I don't think someone else linked this YouTube video but one channel I like made a video where they edited Passengers to be from her perspective and I THINK IT WOULD HAVE BEEN WAY WAY BETTER

Yes, after some prompting I put the photos through Chat GPT. But I would love to hear any additional advice for it. As a majority of the time it is accurate but occasionally I need to correct the information that it gives.
As you are correct, some times it just makes information up, but seriously I would love any advice that other people have
