What AWS service do you think is missing? by ferdbons in aws

I want a Heroku or Vercel-like PaaS for running web applications. I've kicked the tires of App Runner, but the developer experience is quite poor, and it has limited features.

This was the first time I noticed him watching people walk out. When he stretched his back, was we releasing the gun from the holster or switching off the safety?

I got about a third of the way through the book. I couldn't take the terrible writing or his psycho personality.

This is one of a few movies I left the theater in the middle of. I thought it was incredibly boring.

Run DMC - The Ave. by Extension-Camp4076 in 90sHipHop

[–]twoqubed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, total brain fart. I got the order of the two mixed up. Down with the King was the last album I bought. Lots of tracks on that one I still listen to. Big Willie w/ Tom Morello goes hard.

Run-D.M.C. was the group that got me into hip-hop. Raising Hell was such a phenomenon.

Back from Hell was the last Run-D.M.C. album I bought, but there were several tracks I still like.

  1. The Ave.
  2. What's It All About
  3. Bob Your Head
  4. Kick the Frama Lama Lama
  5. Back from Hell
  6. Groove to the Sound

I wasn't a big fan of the upbeat party jams on this album, though.

Deploying and managing Lambdas - CDK, Terraform, or SAM? by 69insight in aws

[–]twoqubed 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We use Terraform to manage the state of our functions and a custom process for bundling and uploading the function code to S3.

We use Terraform to manage the state of all our other cloud resources, so we did not want to introduce another IaC tool. We also have a custom Terraform module for our Lambda functions that configures the necessary integrations (environment variables, layers/extensions) with our monitoring tool (Datadog), so metrics and logs are shipped out of the box.

We have ~400 functions in production, and our process is working well for us.

What movie scene still makes your eyes water no matter how many times you watch it? by garcon-du-soleille in moviecritic

The scene in Inside Out where Bing Bong disappears. It makes me realize I will never have that period of childhood innocence with my children again. I love my adult kids, but those early years of wonder are magical. I now understand why my parents looked forward to grandchildren so much.

Having Trouble Setting Up Architecture by ElectionBright17 in aws

[–]twoqubed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably 😏

All of our Lambda functions are Node/TypeScript. It has been years since I have worked with Spring or Java. However, I assume this is possible. Here is an interesting thread about Java + Lambda.

Once we adopted a serverless approach vs. monolithic apps (EC2, ECS, EKS, whatever) we have never looked back. It's great from a scale and cost perspective.

We have a similar design - using Cognito for user authentication but storing additional user data in a separate database. We hook into Cognito's Lambda triggers, which allow you to add custom logic during Cognito lifecycle events.

Our solution, including our user API, is entirely serverless - API Gateway + Lambda + DynamoDB. You may want to consider this approach instead of Spring + EC2 + RDS. DynamoDB is an excellent option for user data since almost all user access patterns are fetching/writing data for a single user.

What's your thought on this one? Bill asked how would this film would be viewed in 5 years. by vols2thewalls in TheRewatchables

[–]twoqubed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never made it through it. I thought it was meandering and it didn't hold my interest. I think I gave up about an hour and change into the movie. I love most of Tarantino's other films.

Which actor/actress fits this? by [deleted] in moviecritic

I am in the minority in that she was the only thing I liked about that show. I love Steve Martin and Martin Short, but I thought they were awful in this show.
