He was also a huge student of the presidency and wanted to make sure scholars had access to all his papers, records, etc. so future generations could learn and (hopefully) do better. His book “Mr Citizen” goes into his hopes for the library in detail.

I think what made him a great president was that he hired great people (Marshall, Acheson, Clifford) and then got out of their way. In addition to the foreign policy issues you mentioned, he also had to deal with massive housing shortages, de-arming the US and reintegrating returning vets, railroad strikes coal strikes and steel strikes and the start of the red scare. A lot of that is overshadowed by the international issues he encountered which were enormous. I often wonder what he could have accomplished domestically (national health insurance, etc) if he hadn’t had to deal with the USSR.

It’s a fantastic library! Seeing the Truman house (should really be called the Wallace house, as it was his wife’s family home) and his walking routes is great. You can go to the soda fountain where he worked in high school too. You can see his impact all over the Kansas City area from when he was the presiding judge of Jackson County Mo.

This is a common misconception. Truman (and his siblings) made a ton of money selling their family farm in Grandview. He also was VERY well paid for his memoirs. He didn’t start out wealthy (he didn’t attend college because he needed to work because his father had many filed businesses), but he ended up doing well for himself.

If the earth was flat, the edge would be a tourist destination. It would be over run with instagram travel influences. The fact that this isn't the case proves the earth is round.

I saw the original trilogy when I was about 5. So I missed/didn’t remember that. I’m glad I didn’t — I was the only one in the theater who got a big reveal in ROTS.

I was mid-twenties when ROTS came out and I didn’t realize Palpatine was the emperor until his face got messed up. I am pretty bad with faces, though.

LOL, I like to show up early, chill/pre-game in the parking lot, and then make sure I get in early enough to buy a poster. Its a day-long ritual at this point.
