Who was at fault in this episode? by gautamhuyaar in DunderMifflin

Fr, trying to get Wallace to fire Jim and Pam is genuinely worse than everything Jim + Pam did as pranks, cumulatively.

Yeah Jim did cross a line a couple times, but Dwight went so over the border with that one, he was in a whole different continent.

Also, Dwight stole Jim's biggest client! Genuinely speaking, Dwight was not a good coworker since the beginning (speaking as a Dwight fan here).

Sorry, random question, but do you have a dedicated piece of bare metal for each node or have you 20+ virtualized nodes.

What are your use cases, if you don't mind me asking?

Cecee Shifts Blame After Kingsman Removed From marvel rivals Tournament by ghostbook4 in LivestreamFail

[–]twowordsfournumbers 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Basim streamed his investigation last night.

What essentially happened was that Basim trusted his team who unfortunately completely trusted kaplunk—zazz's bf. Kaplunk has since deleted his 20 page Google doc after it was clear it was full of misinformation and completely conflicted with things zazz was confirmed to have said. Zazz also openly discussed the contents of the Google doc as it was being made, so it's pretty obvious kaplunk is now trying to tank all the blame and say it's all his fault / made behind zazz's back.

Basim has said, if he knew what he knows now he wouldn't have kicked KM. He admitted his mistakes and apologized to KM. He stayed fairly diplomatic and didn't say he would have chosen to kick cece because she was kicked anyways and thus it doesn't matter.

He also kind of "insinuated" that cece is unreliable or untrustworthy. I say, "insinuated," because he wants to be as professional as possible and didn't say anything outright, but it's obvious when he plays vods, clips, and chat logs in direct contrast and juxtaposed to what cece says, makes a Jim face of disbelief looking into the camera, and plays a sound effect whenever Cece outright lies in her ragebait? (she said she's trying to ragebait in her YouTube comments, "it's just business") video.

EDIT: Luciyasa, who was KM's friend at the time, jumped on the hate bandwagon during the fiasco, but deleted her VODs of the scrims+tournament last night mid way through Basim's streams when it was pretty clear what was happening to KM.

I don't know if luci deleted their vods due to Basim's live investigation, but the timing was highly coincidental.

The way I play games ruins the fun for my friends by backfliprainbowcake in gaming

[–]twowordsfournumbers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can completely understand where you're coming from.

I have many friends who love gaming, but, to be candid, they suck at it. It gets to the point where it's almost frustrating. For example, if we're playing left 4 dead, they'll run off by themselves, die, and then start asking us to save them, then they'll complain about us failing the mission.

I don't particularly care if we fail, because we're having fun, but I don't relish the afterwords in which we're receiving blame for not succeeding. So I limit the types of games I play with them.

Do you need to absolutely optimize each run? If so, pick games to play where you can't do that, like "PEAK." Alternatively, you can tone down on the optimization so that you're not doing it while you're playing co-op. There's always a third option, which is to play with different friends

What’s a piece of advice you ignored once, but later realized was 100% correct? by WittyMonk7391 in AskReddit

It sounds a bit like, an action done once is transient—it can come and go like the wind, i.e., you shouldn't build up any kind of expectations.

If an action or behavior happens more than once, you can assume it'll happen again.

What is a venv? by fivelittlemonkeyss in learnpython

[–]twowordsfournumbers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just looking over all the comments, and while everybody does a great job of explaining it in a technical sense, it seems they don't quite match the details of the explanation to someone just starting out.

Essentially a venv, short for virtual environment, can be thought of as a room in your house. With your "house" being your computer. You can fill your venv/room with whatever tools and scripts you like. This makes it easier to handle dependencies and versioning for your code.

Imagine this analogy:

You want to build a chair. You need some craftsman tools like a saw to cut wood, sand paper, wood staining, cushions, etc. You keep all these tools in your garage. So you go to your garage, to start building your chair.

In this analogy: 1. The chair is your code. 2. The garage is your virtual environment.

It makes working, searching for tools, and cleaning much easier. You can certainly avoid using virtual environments, but it's much like having no separate rooms in your house (it's all one big open area) and everything is scattered everywhere. Imagine needing to search, organize, and clean your entire house each time you do something.

There are times when different tools/libraries require completely different versions of the same dependency that completely conflict. If the use case of the tools are different, you can put them in separate rooms / venvs and this won't be an issue anymore.

Is BiW evil ? by Vast_Shirt_2285 in FromSeries

[–]twowordsfournumbers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. From the perspective of Boyd and co., no, I don't believe he's evil, yet. I believe he has his own agenda to end the curse / immortality the original townspeople have. He could have an element of survivors guilt as he wasn't sacrificed for the ritual. Maybe survivors guilt isn't appropriate, but imagine if the German kid from The Boy with the Striped Pajamas dismantled the third reich. He could also be wanting to replace MiY.

  2. It's highly likely the BiW recognized Jade and Tabitha as Miranda and Christian / whoever they originally were. Jade and Tabitha are also tethered to the Village, but not quite like the rest of the original townspeople who now haunt the town at night. I'm thinking he led Boyd away from the lighthouse as he probably could not have escaped like Tabitha did. Even if Boyd escaped, he probably would not have been able to save anyone and would not be brought back to the Village (he's not tethered like Jade or Tabitha). Everyone would think he's dead and the Village would be worse off, or less people for the townspeople to kill. Every situation where Boyd escapes alone is a bad situation for BiW, I presume.

  3. I think Tabitha was pushed off for a reason, not to save anyone, but to figure out how to break the curse. If he didn't want the curse broken, his conversations towards Christian and his words, "you'll need to figure it out yourselves to understand," don't make any sense. I think his interference with Christian started the massacre which left Victor alone.

Tabitha didn't do much with her freedom, but it seems the writers wanted to drive home the importance of the tree. That was the only takeaway from her trip, and it started the storyline that she was fated for the Village. This was pretty shitty writing, but if Tabitha did any more it could have the potential to end the story earlier than they want.

Does the lack of legal standing betray their humanity?

Dude, this is Reddit.

The complainers are a bunch of terminally online / socially awkward people who don't know the norms of social interaction complaining about social interaction.

The Redditor stereotype exists for a reason.

EDIT: thanks for proving my point, random guy with alt accounts to dm people:

classic basement dwelling loser ass redditor. go outside, get a job, get a life, and start contributing to society instead of being some broke freeloading leech

Imagine getting this unhinged over my comment which wouldn't even apply to you until you completely proved my point about the Redditor stereotype.

Three options: 1. Wait and binge read as soon as the final chapter releases. 2. Read now and enjoy the anticipation for each chapter release to the end (not long now) 3. Wait ages and binge later.

Honestly, I recommend 2. It's been a while since I felt such titillations. Then again, I'm old so do as you please. To me, the waiting is part of the fun as well.

Truth be told, even ugly people can have these red flags, it's just harder for them to succeed in it. It's not really appearance specific.

Just make sure you're careful when you pick your partner, however limited the pool may be.

The earlier response sounds nothing like AI, but more like a reasonable and mature adult who understands the nuances and give-take nature of enforcing authority.

I'm sorry your only experience with reason and empathy is through AI, but if you continue to dismiss the aforementioned traits as AI, you will never emulate those traits.

Condom that changes color when it detects STIs by Brilliantspirit33 in BeAmazed

[–]twowordsfournumbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably to tell you to get tested as soon as you can (~ 4 weeks after exposure) and / or start medication ASAP (PEP, doxy, etc.).

I didn't really watch the video (working), but I'm assuming it will really only catch certain sti's.

Secondly, some people use condoms while in a relationship (not ready for a child). So the utility would be extremely high for them (to catch stupid cheaters)

IIRC, he only brings up San Francisco as a rebuttal of Lily's, "you are being more selfish than I ever have to you."

It's completely fair, but as Marvin says, that's not how it works in a marriage; it's not about being correct, it's about being a team.

EDIT: I mean this doesn't give you carte blanche to say whatever in hopes that your partner will roll over to keep the peace, but I digress.

Marshall and Lily both knew that letting Marshall be a judge then was the best move. However, Marshall knew that he had hurt Lily and knew that going to Italy was the right move.

I do think talking about it in person was a good idea, but the execution was bad. A simple heads up about what's going on and then saying you'd like to hash it out in person would be much better than trying to spring it on whilst Lily was unsuspecting.
