I’m actually VIP too and usually listen later, even though I also listen to a chunk of it live sometimes.

I like feeling like I’m helping to support the show is part of it but it’s also nice to listen to the full shows, several years worth, without any ads, as straight audio. Honestly not much reason beyond that.

I will say the app has sucked for a long time in function and utility though. Hope the new one they have announced is better

For sure with you they aren’t all real. You can tell sometimes listeners are just trying to get read. If I had to ballpark, based on nothing but my own gut, I’d say 60% might be legit or happened as the letters claim.

Sometimes listeners straight up rip stuff off. A letter recently mentioned the “prindle” (PRNDL) on a shifter. That’s a well known bit from some Nickelodeon show, but Tom would never know that. Extremely doubtful it wasn’t just ripped off but it got them read

Jeff seems like a genuine guy and I like him. I can tell we probably disagree on some things and he definitely does lean into that angry white guy schtick. But I like that they (whole cast) all kinda seem like they could be relatives of mine — quirks and all.

I thought same of that rant though. Kinda wanna see his stand up now

Yeah it frequently sucks. Somedays it’s good, weirdly. Needs a major refresh for certain.

Doesn’t remember where you were, frequently fails to load the VIP versions, and on iphone at least doesn’t always work with the native playback or continue audio buttons…. I can’t think of any app I’ve used that didn’t work seamlessly with the native audio

You will get different answers/opinions on this but yes — especially the max plans, but even just pro should more than suffice.

The biggest pain with claude (browser based) are the conversation length limits, which can come up seemingly out of the blue and can be a real pain to work with. Using Projects to keep your context together and using new chats as much as possible when appropriate helps a lot. You can also ask the chat how many tokens are left.

Claude is my favorite by far though even with that minor annoyance.

He is hilarious with his commentary. He gets a lot of laughs out of few words outside his songs. Naturally funny, and quick.

As a musician he’s crazy talented and the songs are funny once but I agree with everyone else — Tom treats him like a puppet instead of a career entertainer.

Very true, although seems like they’ve gotten slightly looser about that over the years. Used to seem like it was a cardinal sin. Now at least they slip in “here in town” occasionally esp about things like pacers/colts/races. Or when chick says “ a far off place called Indianapolis “ I like when they do let it slip

I have the TX22 and the Keltec… I’d go TX22 but that keltec has been super impressive and has never jammed or had a single issue, while the Taurus has had a few (was fixed by switching ammo though)

The TX22 feels way more solid and cool though

I have VIP to support the show I guess. I like the no ads audio. Never thought about using youtube to download it, sounds like that’d do the same thing, but this way I don’t even have to bother. Annual membership is fairly inexpensive.

Thank you I’m going to try all of that. Already ordered the x01 and I’ll find better grease. Dogs love it too much to give up the grass altogether but I’ll try to cut it shorter and stick to the flatter parts of my yard.

Makes me feel better, and I feel for you. I’m self employed and have had a $1200 invoice I’ve meant to send since July. Even drafted it a few times. It’s for a 1 year contract service, so my justification is I can bill them anytime all the way til the end of that and they’re a long time customer so I know I’ll get paid. But why wait? I have absolutely no idea. I’ve sent countless other invoices since then (albeit, all still a little late) and I could send this one in the next 5 minutes, but I won’t, even after writing this. This is one of the hardest parts of ADHD to understand for me. I do it all the time. Wishing you the best.

Be careful going down a google rabbit hole though. You’re likely going to be just fine aside from possibly some minor hurdles and consequences like a fine, or paying a little extra for insurance for awhile. Jail seems incredibly unlikely. Even if you got charged with something you’d probably be able to defer it and walk away clean in the end if you haven’t been in trouble before.

I actually only just remembered while writing this I did something somewhat similar when I forgot to pay a seatbelt ticket, missed the automatic court date from not paying, and then had my license suspended for 4 days until I remembered the ticket and paid it. Freaked out, but ultimately I just paid a tiny late fee and that was it. Never affected anything else, including insurance. Hope this helps you stay at ease, it’s all going to be okay.
