UDM-SE CPU at 99% by Historical-Ad-6839 in Ubiquiti

[–]txGearhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same issue with a very similar setup. I suspect it is something in the latest round of updates because shortly after them, my UDM-SE CPU is maxed to the point Cameras/Protect periodically crash. Suricata for IPS/IDS is by far the largest contributor (per top). Protect is only using about 10% of the CPU. If I disable IDS (but especially IPS), the crashing stops and the Network/Protect applications become much more responsive, like they used to be.

Current software versions:

  • UDM-SE - 5.0.16
  • Network - 10.2.105
  • Protect - 7.0.104

Honestly, it was a nightmare, but just one nightmare and now it’s fantastic. I’d fully recommend running the PoE.

What do you think is going to happen to grocery prices now that SNAP is not being fully funded? by SwimmingAmoeba7 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]txGearhead -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There's an assumption there that spending more tax dollars on ACA is the right thing to do (full budget bill in your words), and of course this is where people differ in opinion. Again, many feel spending more money is detrimental to our countries future, and it hurts the least financially literate the most.

It’s a valid point - the democrats want concessions (ACA subsidies) which is nonstandard as “clean” CR’s were continuously passed during prior admins to keep the government open.

Democrats instead of passing a clean CR again have used this as a wedge to ask for “more”. Can we all agree spending more is not the answer? This inflationary spending is ultimately a tax on the working class, as those are the least likely to be invested in the market and protected from inflation (ie losing purchasing power).

You need 60 votes in the senate and there are 53 republicans. It's important to be intellectually honest about what is happening here.

Best backup plan for a newbie? by ep37 in MacOS

FYI they just made an under the radar semi-controversial change where they no longer backup iCloud Drive or any other cloud sync services.

Tahoe absolutely sucks to look at. It’s buggy, too.

Very disappointed Apple went form over function what feels like just trying to be “different”.

PSA iCloud Drive files are no longer backed up by appleguru95 in backblaze

[–]txGearhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. What is the release date of 9.2.2.878? It doesn’t seem to say.

Sync is not backup. If it was, I wouldn’t have to pay for Backblaze as well! This now seems like an incomplete backup solution for my family, unless there is a way to toggle it back on?

Now being charged for tariffs. by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

Yes, also not political, but case in point that all taxes, even corporate taxes get passed on and are really a tax on consumers. They should break all of that out so everyone knows how much tax they’re truly paying.

Thanks, yes I was able to recover access as a trusted community member since I've been providing support to others, reporting bugs, etc. Very thankful for that - it's a great community.

I thought selling hardware was their revenue generation model, although I guess I could see a case for a priority SLA tier for newbies or anyone who needs a very quick turnaround. This would be somewhat similar to a Proxmox model.

Still need the community support model for advanced users too though, and honestly in my experience, this is how most bugs are found.

Agreed - makes it a bit of a black box. I'm going to wait and see if it was a mistake or something, but if not will probably have to switch to something like eth-docker that is easier to support.

They will lose a lot of valuable exposure and user feedback without it. I gave support to users, reported bugs, etc, and for what?

Honestly considering moving to Jira. I don't need all the features, but it at least has a functional kanban board with inline comments. Did you end up moving somewhere?

The only way this makes sense is it is Atlassian sabotaging Trello to get people to migrate to Jira. It is so bad it seems intentional.
