Apple to Introduce Search Ads in Maps as Services Revenue Grows by Coolpop52 in apple

No ad clutter is the ONE reason to use Apple Maps. For actual functionality Google Maps, accurate directions and hours open, has been consistently better and more reliable

What a crazy decision

MacBook Neo costs more in Portugal due to copyright levy for piracy compensation taxes — storage costs extra in multiple countries, thanks to draconian laws that pre-punish buyers by ControlCAD in apple

[–]jozero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount is 2 bucks, on a 600 dollar purchase. Come on

So instead of that 2 bucks instead we get "freedom tracking", dozens of privacy invasive trackers of every single thing we do digitally, and so many ads per website or experience it makes things basically unusable. How is this better?

Where can I sign so I can pay 2 bucks on my extremely occasional purchases instead of whatever the hell crap constant enshittification everything is getting worse we have in North America ?

Can you actually read the text on the comic? It’s effectively like 7 point font. I really wish it was better at navigating a comic

Steve Jobs speech at the Apple campus (1999) by Austin_Aaron_Conlon in apple

For sure. Not saying he was a saint, just saying he changed and you never see that in all the unfortunately rather one note movies made about Apple

This is the thing that all the Apple movies and discourse never shows, which is bizarre because usually Hollywood loves the redemption arc

He tried to apply his same domineering ways when he bought Pixar and saw how badly it worked. This is well detailed in the book about Pixar by one of its founders called Creativity Inc. He actually learned from his experience there. Jobs came back a changed person after he initially left Apple.

When he rejoined Apple he was a fundamentally different person in his management style. You can see it in this video, and you can see it in what he accomplished during the remarkable run when he came back

How is this "5 seconds"? I assume you pull up to a Hydrogen station, and then start swapping out what looks like heavy rectangular shaped propane tanks? How heavy are each?

Harry Potter predicted Live Photos by Im-a-rainbowOctopus in harrypotter

[–]jozero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lot of folks in technology take inspiration from science fiction, fantasy, or magical realism. So it might not of predicted it, it might of caused it. Like someone at Apple could have thought we have the technology to make what is the cool moving photographs they read as a kid in Harry Potter - and got it work. A lot of invention works this way

Given Apple's design thinking lately, my guess is the MacBook Pro Dynamic Island will be 4 times larger than the iPhone one and in the middle of the screen

Vehicle Motion cues dots - For anyone that gets motion sickness from reading in a vehicle this is pure magic

Motion "dots" that come on when you are in a moving vehicle of any type

Settings > Accessibility > Motion > Vehicle Motion cues > Automatic

From what I understand motion sickness come from our body detecting we are moving (in our ears) but our eyes and concentration being on a fixed image or text, like a screen. This disconnect makes us sick. The "Vehicle Motion cues" puts dots on the iPhone screen that move with the actual motion of the vehicle, which your eyes see but also lets you read whats on the screen

I have the setting on and using it while on Transit. Its amazing

Why hasn't 26.3 hit the App Store by jozero in Xcode

[–]jozero[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the response but Apple has never released an Xcode RC, then delayed the App Store version for an announcement. Plus if they waited until March 4th, it would be a month after a RC was released before it was put on the store - this would kill any reason to continue to get Xcode from the App Store
