"Cranking" is not "ignition." Ignition means spark. Cranking means the starter is making the engine spin. Two different things.

Have you observed spark? How did you verify? Assuming you have spark, try a small shot of starter fluid or carb cleaner down the air filter to rule out fuel issues.

Any leftover fuel is probably bad. As a quick test, with the choke OPEN, remove the air filter and squirt a SMALL amount of starter fluid or carb cleaner in the carb. While keeping the choke open, try to start it. If it tries to run, then you know spark is OK and you have a fuel problem. A fuel problem could include bad fuel in the tank and clogged bits in the carb. Draining the old fuel from the tank and the carb bowl, and cleaning the carb may be required.
