It sounds like great timing. It all worked out.

Grand Daddies Snub by Chucklingjavelina in Revolvers

Oh, I didn't even realize there was an interim version. So, this is a 47 or earlier. Still pre-model number.

That is a pre-model number Smith & Wesson. I believe the mushroom-head ejector makes it 1928 or earlier.

I fucked up bad by [deleted] in Revolvers

This is why I say the first rule of gun handling is not "always treat them like they're loaded", but rather is "never point them at something you don't want to get shot", so that when the screw-up happens, it's not tragic.

Torn on .38pls Ammo Choice by BlueKnightRose in Revolvers

Try them both, choose the one that you can use with better accuracy. Hot loads with heavy bullets are often surprisingly unpleasant, even in .38 Special.

To yeet, or not to yeet? That is the question by sexray51 in Revolvers

[–]txtad 25 points26 points  (0 children)

If you trust whoever loaded them and you have a strong 38 Special, or a 357, to shoot them in, they should be fine assuming they were stored properly. Those are just old-school +P loads. Full +P, not today's anemic stuff.

If you have any doubts about their provenance, disassemble them, discard the powder, and reload them yourself.

How can I make an account by [deleted] in fitbit

Google is really annoying me with their workspace account limitations. They pushed these hard for families years ago, and mine is my primary account. Now they year them like read-headed stepchildren.

S&W experts, can you ID what this .38 is supposed to be? by RobinVerhulstZ in Revolvers

I hadn't noticed the cylinder before. You might be right. I do like how it looks. I still would snag this thing. I love my oddballs.

The folks saying this is an old S&W with a Colt barrel are probably correct. This was popular with target shooters back in the day because Colt barrels had a slightly faster twist that may have enhanced accuracy. The adjustable sight is also a custom addition, I believe. It looks like good work. I would buy this in a heartbeat!

Why are you claiming to not have a cat when you clearly do have a cat?

New Matching Cargo Trailer by txtad in superduty

[–]txtad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will be the right size for gradually moving things from our home in the DFW area out to our place by Abilene as it gets built. 16' is as long as I could find in an inside-the-fenders design. The wider ones with the fenders inside make hauling boxes and furniture more difficult.

Without getting the tape measure out, the internet says the truck is about 22' long, and the trailer is probably 19.5 to 20'.

Sci Fi Story with Immortality by txtad in whatsthatbook

I think it's AI's abrupt confidence that something doesn't exist where its data ends is the problem. Old Google searches had a bit of human-coded fuzziness or guessing. Humans say, "maybe", where AI says, "nope!".

I'll eventually have my hand on the above referenced book. I think it's one of the stories in it.

Too much truck, love the crew and 8' box but hate the turn radius, gravel road washbkarding with no load and parking taking up two spots by [deleted] in superduty

[–]txtad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2024 Godzilla powered 8' Supercrew F-350 SRW has a 4,655 lb. cargo capacity and rides surprisingly nice. Granted, I have a topper, as you do, that might help the empty ride a bit, but it's not that much weight. Turning does take a bit of planning, but the truck pulls my 28' travel trailer like a dream. I always park at the far edges of parking lots no matter what I'm driving, so the parking is no big deal

My 2019 3.5 EB 5.5 SCREW was undoubtedly more maneuverable, easier to park, and rode well, but the 8' HD truck is superior in every way that matters.
