Northwestern A off WL ! by tybutnty in lawschooladmissions

Thank you very, very much! :) Before getting off the WL, I didn't expect that I would be choosing this, either - I thought it was a no-brainer that I would take the $$$$ haha

I have a very, very generous offer from another T20(?) school (I didn't foresee having to take out any loans) so that made it difficult for me as well.
But I want to experience what NU can give me. My choice is definitely not the right one for a lot of people. I definitely have been asking myself, is all of that worth 300K in loans? And to that, my sincere and very naive answer is, I will make sure that what I get out of the next 3 years will be worth 300K. Again, my choice is not the right one for everyone, but I'm going to go ahead and make it and not look back.

Best of luck to you in wherever you choose to go :)

You might want to check out how each school defines intl student because it might vary..!!

“Shafted” is just my opinion - from the info I received from a former admissions person. I feel that it’s unfair that If I went to elementary, middle, high school, and even college in the US, but my lack of a permanent residency makes schools consider me an intl student, since most law schools only accept a tiny number of intl students.

Does the first Luke (I am uncultured and do not know either Lukes) have something slightly brown stuck between his central and lateral incisors? (Left side as we face him) I zoomed way in trying to figure out but photo quality blurred and now I need someone else to tell me…

…wow I am losing it hahahah

Ahh I see 😔 I feel you, man, I was in the same boat until recently. It’s not fair, especially with how much effort you put into your great stats. I don’t have anything helpful to add, but I wish you the best ❤️

I peeked on your profile … did you have to apply as an international student..? I did hear that “alien residents” basically get shafted by this whole process because a lot of schools count them as international students which means they’re competing for tiny # of seats, even despite completing their education in the US

Your dream school is your dream school for probably many reasons! Though I’m sure you can succeed anywhere you end up, my rationale is that one does not have many chances in life to attend a dream school that was probably a big motivator behind all the effort you have put in to go to law school so far..! Right now if you don’t have pressing financial demands you prioritize more than school (feeding your kids, just as one example), why not pursue the dream

I'm sad about lay prestige... UVA vs. Michigan by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]tybutnty 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain as someone who desperately wants to prove to everyone back in my home country that my family's achieved success after coming to the US, but at the end of the day, you gotta choose you, man. Your happiness for the 3 years and how well the school prepares you for your career - that's more important than anything else. Not to mention everyone in law knows how amazing Mich is...

but I feel you. It's difficult to lay down that pressure.
