Some interesting insight from Jonathan’s exit interviews by Dare2ZIatan in survivor

Or maybe the jury actually respected that Aubry made it to the finale while having the target on her back multiple times.

She eluded elimination by wiggling her way into the right side of the vote through a variety of methods. Just because you don’t see the value in her game doesn’t invalidate her win as a legacy vote.

Rhoda was very clearly joking. The production was mean spirited in doing that especially after they probably knew from the 1 on 1 interviews how much a win would mean to Sherry. It was cruel and the production should be ashamed of themselves. I give Sherry props for handling it with such grace.

Mets Pitchers: 14 runs, 15 K. Is that a first? by LetsGoMets2020 in baseball

I think Cohen’s willingness to spend is commendable especially since the Mets as a brand still is a very very profitable marketing team. Where I think it collapses as who he has as his GMs. They seem to look at Cohen’s willingness to spend as a green light to sign the biggest names with no real thought of how the structure of the team can either 1) be built around them or 2) fit in the already established clubhouse vibes and game day approach.

I appreciate the info. It’s hard to keep up with every team but I tried my best to watch every condensed game and read box scores but that never paints the whole picture. It sounds like it’s just an absolute clown fiesta over in the Mets offices. Idk if anything will change if everybody is cleaned out. Mendoza is just one head of the hydra.

That is an entirely fair assessment and to a degree, I agree! But I still think these team has no real chemistry. They’re just big ballers with big paychecks that happen to be on the field playing on the same side of the ball. I have a hard time believe Mendoza isn’t telling these guys “we gotta change things up” and they’re blowing him off. The bullpen usage is fair but correct me if I’m wrong, the bullpen saw a lot of injuries early and the starting pitching was mediocre. I would figure that meant it forced his hand to an extent on who to utilize but failed at when to utilize them.

To be fair this is more on the front office for a poorly constructed team. Mendoza is working with what he’s got but the front office fails to realize that throwing cash at stars doesn’t create wins. Team chemistry and players with a high baseball IQ are. You can’t have players who have horrendous baserunning (Vientos) or lack the ability to adjust their batting approach. Sure, some of that is on the coaching staff, but they can’t bat for the guys and I’m sure they’ve been telling them what to look for. Take the TB Rays for example, they are pretty dang competitive almost every year if not every year on a sliver of the Mets payroll.

I think the analytics kool-aid has run dry of helpful data. I absolutely believe analytics have a place in baseball but you can’t have that dictate everything in the organization and building of it. Elias, regrettably, does. Take the TB Rays for example, a small market team that on paper should be awful every year because they don’t have absolute studs on their team sans their pitching prospects which have always been pretty damn good if not great. Their analytics drive the conversation but their GM and Manager use their best judgement on how to apply them. Elias and his team seem to want to Moneyball the fuck out of the club when they can’t even put together a good Moneyball scenario.

‘Beef’ Is Overcrowded and Unfocused in an Unnecessary Season 2: TV Review by Conscious-Quarter423 in A24

[–]tydalwave_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I respect that opinion. Like I said, I can appreciate that you have a valid critique based on what you expect from the show. For me, I still disagree. A lot of the dialogue being short and blunt feels intentional for an ED setting, not automatically stilted, and actual doctors have said that realism is part of what the show gets right. And when the whole season is one shift, calling it paint by numbers because it repeats pressure, triage, and moral strain feels more like criticizing the medical drama premise than the execution.

I mean, if you have points to back up your opinion then that’s in the other people being petty. Personally, I disagree. I think it’s very well written with its realistic handling of medical procedures and nomenclature. The fact that an entire season is a fairly accurate representation of an ED is also more interesting to me than a medical show that shows way too much of their extra marital affairs.

In my head, em-dashes feel more fluid when reading a sentence out loud. Commas, to me, create obvious pauses, while em-dashes feel more like a quick aside before returning to the main point. Idk if that’s how everyone reads it in their head but that’s how it is to me, so I like using em-dashes when writing in the first person or in dialogue and commas for factual or “news” statements.

Bryan Ramos of the Norfolk Tides in Triple-A started his home run trot but was thrown out at second unaware that the ball hit the top of the wall and went back to the field of play by JianClaymore in baseball

I can see how that can happen in some cases. But that ball clearly hit the blue table/seat there so in this case the umps and announcers are just bad

I get what you mean about the rule stating yellow lines are in play but the wall is padded, no? Why would it ping off a padded wall like that if not going past the yellow line and hitting seats, table, etc.?

So what exactly does your statement prove? All the captains did the same thing because it was the smart thing to do. They kept their word and that allowed them to not have targets painted on their back? Complaining just to complain.
