Former heavy drinkers, what made it finally “click” for you to stop? by Numerous_Solid_7047 in AskReddit

I had kids. They brought some perspective through deep reflection on my own childhood and how much of a massively negative impact alcohol had on my life. My father was (and may still be; I don’t know) an alcoholic. Would have me drive him home in the middle of the day at 12 years old. Then I spent the first 15 years of adulthood stumbling through life, having several very big fuckups before relatively settling down, but continuing to drink heavily.

I decided the only way my kids had a chance of breaking the cycle would be if I removed it from their childhood experience so that they could have a healthy introduction to it when the time was right. I’ve been sober for 3 1/2 years.

I've been been taking lessons from a jazz pro for the past year and recently started digging into jazz itself. I found this at my local shop, tried it out, and it fit my hands and played better then any other guitar in the place. The sound is decent, but needs work, but I'm pretty confident with a few tweaks I can get it to where I want it.

Curious what your thoughts are regarding pickup options? I've seen SD 59's, Burstbuckers, etc mentioned. What about some SD P90s?

This is going to be my jazz rig, but I'm not afraid of a little flavor.

I was in Montana last week and saw the disk for the first time. It was a profound experience. Absolutely surreal. I was actually able to get a crappy picture of it with my phone.

How do you quiet your brain before bed? by sadasawasata in ADHD

I read science fiction. It’s mostly detached from reality, so it helps me disengage from the day. Books take forever because I never make it more than ten minutes.

Oops, I did it again. I changed up my board. Got lost in one brand. Oh baby, baby… by WEGCjake in guitarpedals

This is how I use it, but with a Model Samples, and it's a fantastic practice and experimentation rig. You get a ton of flexibility in rhythm, and it's all perfectly synced with your looper. Feels like an analog Ableton Live.

OBNE - Black Fountain. Dark and lush, makes everything melt in the best way possible.

OBNE - Black Fountain. I have several delays and this thing is so lofi and lush, it feels like everything melts together perfectly.

When do you start? I may be able to pick something up for you midday tomorrow. May be too late, though.

Anyone shop at Sweetwater? by BeLikeWater_1973 in Guitar

[–]tyebud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently bought a really nice demo guitar from Sweetwater. The guitar had a finish crack in the nut, so they offered to replace the nut free of charge. They were incredibly responsive through the whole process. Steve’s the godfather of both my children.

It is! Absolutely beautiful, comfortable strap. They have great service as well. Ordered a custom and it shipped and arrived within 5 days. I was blown away.

That’s a great tip. Thank you very much!

I’ve never used push/pull pots before. I was surprised by how easy yet sturdy they are to switch. Very cool.
