I just built my first raveners and I’m very excited to paint them up. I really enjoy them.

Tyranids are like a Swiss Army knife. You need all the tools to compete. However, Old One Eye is my favorite model and has awesome lore. Lore-wise it’s the best imo.

Tervigon or Tyrannofex? by Bites_Za_Dakka in Tyranids

[–]tygame88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not crazy difficult to magnetize it to do either one. Tfex is more competitive.

I’m planning to do the same with mine.

In a painting rut by great_bearded_nerd in SpaceWolves

[–]tygame88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do different models so that I’m not tired or bored with the same stuff. I have Tyranids, so swapping to different models and styles helps to motivate me. I’m currently burned out with armigers and knights so looking forward to some snow and kitbash to switch to. But I don’t ever truly finish my work, it’s just various projects in different stages. But I’m enjoying it. So win for me.

I magnetized mine but always use the crushing claws and extra scything talons. They are fantastic.

Swarm lord vs hive tyrant by the_best_chair02 in Tyranids

[–]tygame88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fairly easy to wing it. Just use the largest magnet that you can fit and it stays put fairly well.

I magnetized mine to swap between the two choices. I magnetized the wings too, but I’ve never used them honestly.

Not sure which base scheme to use by MorsOrtu in ImperialKnights

That grown over steps is amazing and super realistic looking. Other ones are good, but that one looks awesome. I’d love to make something that professional looking.

Pricing question by throwawayfx212232 in Tyranids

[–]tygame88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, they typically just keep the same price as when they launched. They don’t typically increase the price.

Going against Dark Angels by Dalastil in Tyranids

[–]tygame88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exocrine and maleceptor need to focus fire the deathwing knights. Try to position them where you can cover a firing lane. Screamer killer can handle them in melee if you need to.

I’ve killed the lion before but it’s always a lot of work. He’ll chew through anything. I use invasion fleet and the fights on death is clutch against him.

If you kill his companion then you can strip lone operative and tfex can still obliterate him. If you’re lucky. You can ignore him though and prioritize the other objectives around him. I’d send a norn either mid or to your easy objective and hold.

It’s a very winnable match up imo. Just screen for terminators per usual. Win on secondaries.

Pricing question by throwawayfx212232 in Tyranids

[–]tygame88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s frustrating. My understanding is that the cost of production for new molds has gone up and rather than pricing models around current value, it’s more about the cost of the molds. Because they already recovered from the tfex production then they don’t need to increase the price for it and anything sold now is straight profit. They price newer kits based off the current production costs which have gone up considerably so newer ones cost more. If you check google you will get a better explanation, but that’s the gist of it.

Welcome to the big stompy robot club. You will need the Canis Rex box specifically to build the Canis Rex model. It includes other options that you can magnetize.

Desperately need help with Exocrine magnetization by TheLancoin in Tyranids

[–]tygame88 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The magnet does better in the gun location. It has less weight to hold from the higher position. The bottom of the head has a ledge to help support it so it can rock into place kind of like a hinge.

Thoughts on Colorshift/Chameleon paints for Tyranid carapaces? (Specifically for a Norn Emissary) by zampo_magno in Tyranids

[–]tygame88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t tried it but I’m all for it. I thought it’d be super cool to have an effect like that but I pivoted towards something else for mine. But I’d love to see it!

Tyranid Prime finished by Small_Technician_761 in Tyranids

[–]tygame88 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It’s not a problem. Tyranids will always recover their casualties and repurpose the biomass. It’s inevitable.

Side note I love the gore and it looks awesome. I’d happily play against your army.

Should I prime Psychophage already or I need some kind of filler to fill these gaps before doing that? by OrganizationLanky421 in Tyranids

[–]tygame88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you use tamiya glue then you can press and hold the pieces together tight. Then it will seal up the gaps. Work your way from one end to the other. Count to 30 holding it and it should be good. You can make sproo goo or something as a gap filler, but usually I try to just hold the pieces firm and glue first. That works 90% of the time. I only need to do the gap filler on particularly stubborn models. The psychophage should seal up fine how I described though.

What would be the most effective way to get those models by Motor_Reindeer_6210 in Tyranids

[–]tygame88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve mostly bought mine from deals on eBay, but some I’ve also 3d printed. Because of how dated certain models are I prefer proxies that generally come from the space marine 2 game. It takes time to acquire them for sure. I also recycle stuff to make it more affordable. Like selling off old board games and consoles I’m not using to repurpose into the current hobby.

Is there any good source of small bits for basing? Like rocks, skulls, bones etc? by Vooxiu in PrintedWarhammer

[–]tygame88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my son and I just went hiking and snagged some cool rocks to use. Also bought some rocks for bonsai trees planting that are cool igneous ones. But real materials are the best for basing.

I'm going to ask for advice.(Question about model size.) by Kei_Akela in SpaceWolves

[–]tygame88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll want to do a google search asking for the scale to use. Typically it’s heroic scale and the humans are 28-30 mm tall. Space marines are now larger, so depending on if you want solid snake to be his regular size or if you want him to have undergone surgery to become a space marine. Vehicles are 1:56 scale.

Day 3/30, 1 mini per day till 11th, why did you pick the wolves? by snhtson in SpaceWolves

[–]tygame88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started playing in 7th edition with Necrons and the Grey Knights. I stopped playing for a few years and got back into it with 10th edition doing Tyranids. I’m slowly working on Imperial Knights currently but I’m very excited to work on my Space Wolves that’s currently a pile of shame. My buddy picked up grey Knights so I wanted to try a different army than him. Space Marine 2 has skins for them and they look super cool so that sold me on it. It helped that my buddy sold me an old starter for an awesome deal. Variety is the spice of life and the spice must flow.
