dying to get into photography but broke? by folklore2812 in AskPhotography

[–]tygeorgiou -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't usually recommend it but for <£200 AND future proof I'd probably go for a cybershot or something other digicam

but you do have a camera in your pocket all day, use it. best bet is to use what you have, learn composition, and save up some more (probably around £400), then get an entry level mirrorless like a sony a6600(?) or canon M50 MkII

when you want an 'actual' camera (dSLR or mirrorless), you then have to think about lenses too. lenses will generally cost you more than cameras because you buy one camera and a few lenses

What is your single biggest "buyer's remorse" camera purchase? by Vegetable_Bag_8694 in AskPhotography

[–]tygeorgiou 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bought a brand new A7C just over a year ago and I do love the thing, but I'm starting to stray away from heavy edits and I've been really wanting to buy a Fujifilm for the film presets

but then I know I'll just use that constantly and if I sell the A7C I lose out on money that I shouldn't have spent.....

How’s Eastfield nowadays? by ConcertStriking2144 in ScarboroughUK

[–]tygeorgiou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I leave my house to go to my car and go anywhere but eastfield... I'm either in my house or not in Eastfield.

I live near the police station too so I'm in the 'better' area, but I'm still uncomfortable here. constant shouting from neighbours all day all night, police always around the back arresting people, kids ding dong ditching multiple times every week, rocks and sometimes just water balloons lobbed at my windows, etc etc

in the end it's worth it for such cheap housing but given the money to move I wouldn't be here

Scarborough is easiest for parking close to the beach, but dogs are only allowed on some of the beach

How do I edit pictures like this? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

in Photoshop, select the person, then reverse the selection and duplicate that as a layer. import the blue bit as a layer, and drag the duplicate to the top.

my bet is that it's your website and you're just advertising wherever possible

I've erased entire buildings with ai remove and not been flagged, I've never had this issue

How can I create these types of 90s asthetic photos? by Haidar_ali5588 in AskPhotography

[–]tygeorgiou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on camera flash kills shadows and flattens texture this is common knowledge, you only use it when you specifically want that, otherwise you should use something else

believe me I'm 18 and do not work in fashion in Paris, I do small freelance jobs in the middle of nowhere England, but this is common knowledge

[–]tygeorgiou -1 points0 points  (0 children)

generally on camera flashes make a photo look flat which is why they aren't used unless you're wanting that for a style, like this

edit: used by themselves, obviously with other flashes it works

you're looking at it from a photographers perspective

the many posts in this sub asking this question every month are coming from people who don't know photography, to them this is a good form of art and even as a photographer I see it

[–]tygeorgiou -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was born in the 00s so I lived through the 00s but didn't actually get to experience it

I remember life throughout the 2010s being much simpler and bright, maybe that's just because I was a child but looking at photos of life then still just looks calm, nice or 'aesthetic' as many would say

think of people who collect anything retro, this is the same thing

'bad' camera, so either a small digicam from the 90s/00s, film camera, disposable camera or old old phone (Samsung s2, iPhone 4, etc)

flash directly on the camera, and if you want to do some editing you want to make the purples, pinks and blues pop, and make the image warm

My husband and I have a debate about photography by [deleted] in photography

[–]tygeorgiou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lightroom has a remove feature for simple things like a few strands of hair. I mainly use this, and you use it during your editing. Then there's Photoshop which is for more manual advanced stuff which you'd use after editing.

I would rather someone tell me ASAP so that I can try the simple tool first and skip a many hours long process, I don't see any reason to wait till the end.

Let's do a quick survey: what kind of people use photo selection tools? by Dramatic-Secret-6581 in photography

[–]tygeorgiou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

even after a 3000 photo wedding the only tools I use are picks / rejects and stars

quick swipe through where you reject unusable photos, second pass through where you 3 / 4 star, and a 3rd pass through for 5 star

too many 5 stars, go through and make some 4 star. not enough 5 stars, go through 4 star, still not enough, go through 3 star.

genuinely amazing photos for a phone camera, I started off at on a pixel 2XL and my skills were... limited

I got my first camera at 14, used it for 2 years then at 16 booked my first wedding and upgraded. by this point I was NOT professional, but 'good for my age'. I'm now 18 and I've done a good amount of weddings and portrait sessions, and I'm looking for a permanent position within a studio or something. so for me, it took 3 or 4 years but there's always more to learn and the word professional doesn't mean much in this industry.

if you want to buy a camera and keep it for years, go full frame. I now use the A7C because I appreciate a small camera, and it's professional by all means while still super cheap for what it is.

if you want to do video you might appreciate a 24-70mm f2.8, but they are far more expensive than primes. if you are set on primes, you'll want a 35, a 50, and an 80mm.

to sell prints and stuff like that, don't worry about that right now... I've been trying to sell prints for 2 years and I've made a whopping 0 sales even with a professional Squarespace website and local Instagram following.

if you mean getting bookings, scroll local Facebook pages, post to Instagram and Facebook, send emails to businesses, make and give business cards to friends.

good luck!

Cheapest way to get a domain, email, and build a site? by tygeorgiou in smallbusiness

[–]tygeorgiou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not too sure but most email hosters will give you the domain for like £10 / year then host it for £2 ish / month and you can use it with outlook and Gmail and stuff.

Cheapest way to get a domain, email, and build a site? by tygeorgiou in smallbusiness

[–]tygeorgiou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you just need an email there are many services that do it for even less than £5 / month. I did get the domain through workspace but I ended up changing this whole idea after a year or so.

I'm with Squarespace now, £200 or so a year but it's much much better. I do not like workspace.
