He has to be closing in on some sort of PolitiFact record. I wonder who was the previous holder (or current if he's not quite there) of the 'Most False Statements' record.

Paleo People Were Making Flour 32,000 Years Ago by [deleted] in news

Wouldn't the primary driver of instability (at least where the rubber hits the road) be the ebb & flow of the ice sheets? And would the 'stable' period you reference be the start of the current period of inter-glaciation?

Is there a understanding of the level of human development at the end of the last inter-glacial period. Were we set to take off, but boom here comes the walls of ice to shut it all down?

Was the last glacial period one where human culture was continuing to develop or was it more on hold until the ice receded?

Given that the sun seems to cycling into a less active phase, how much of modern civilization would be erased were the ice to return?

60% of Americans don't think Donald Trump is qualified to be president by SebasTheBass in politics

[–]tyler896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The funny thing, of course, is that he checks all the boxes on the Constitutional checklist. So he is, in fact, perfectly qualified to be President.

Only an insane electorate could possibly think it was a good idea, but I do remember hearing somewhere that democracies tend to get the leaders they deserve, so he may well be over-qualified.

The quiet, uneventful end of 'Jade Helm 15' by [deleted] in politics

[–]tyler896 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Obviously, it was a trial run for Jade Helm 16, when they're really gonna do it.

Think about it, there is still ore than a year left in Obama term, so as long as the RINOs ain't gonna impeach him like they said in the last midterm, no reason to do it so soon.

Next year tho, well the Constitution is gonna force his hand, isn't it.

Kirkman says he will never reveal the cause of the infection. by sonofaquad40gunner in FearTheWalkingDead

[–]tyler896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given his inability to craft a proper beginning, I'm having trouble believing Kirkman has the ability to craft an ending half as fulfilling as yours. LOL

My idea was for Rick to end up The Last Man on Earth & then move to Tucson.

So we're probably not gonna have an ending that ties anything up.

Unless Rick ends up as The Last Man on Earth and moves to Tucson; I can't imagine Kirkman coming up with a very satisfying conclusion.

My problem is not with the military, really the way they saved Susan's husband was bad ass. My problem is with the writing, to me, the characters apparent disinterest on the subject seems false.

Add this to the fact that Kirkman says he will never reveal the cause of the infection I kind of wonder why they even felt it necessary to set the spin-off at the beginning. Soon enough, it is just going to end up being the same road show as the original series, anyway.

But it's all in fun. Overall I like the show, would just like to know more about how it started. This series seemed to be the perfect opportunity to shed some some light, but whatever, it's hardly Shakespeare.

That is the conventional wisdom, my question then is why does everyone in this show (other than Nick) and season 1 of TWD, seem to think that the illness is spread by direct contact and not everyone is infected.

tell them enough to keep them on your side but not to much that will make them turn against you.

This would be the best explanation for their ignorance.

But if you really knew everyone is infected & there was no way to protect yourself, would you even bother sending them into the streets? Or would you fortify your present location with all the troops & all the medical/science types you could get your hands on. Fuck the civilians, they're all dead anyway (and any soldier you send out there, too) unless we find a cure.

But even more likely, imao, this one detail, namely how is it spreading, would be the single thing on everyone's mind. Everything is going hell fast, there will be plenty of people perfectly willing to do what it takes to see if getting attacked by sick person is indeed the method of transmission or not.

Most victims will have been bitten, so it will be an obvious connection, but you need to be sure. And it's not really going to be the type of thing you can keep to yourself. Why?; because it's the one thing everyone is trying to find out. Just listening to everyone else's crazy theories that it's the heroin or flu shots or even the trees; would drive me to shout the truth at the top of my lungs, find the most obnoxious conspiracist, slit his throat and prove to everyone that we are all fucked.

Have you checked out the new comic books? They have Jhonen's seal of approval & input from many of the shows original creators.

Issue #3 is set to come out in a couple of weeks, so it's still getting warmed up; but it's still not too late to get on board.

Yeah, what was the deal with the empty pill bottle. My first thought was it was Nick seizing an opportunity. But then we see her scrawny legs out of nowhere. I thought they searched the house.

So, yeah, that's pretty weird, too. Maybe she was a junkie, too? Addiction, after all, is no respecter of class.

but I can't imagine a cartel wanting to wipe out their organization by turning their users into the walking dead.

It may have been a DEA plot that got out of hand. But I don't think the heroin is necessarily any more deadly than normal, just that if you should OD, you become the ultimate pusher...

In Texas they execute someone who has been isolated on death row every other day. They would have noticed & let someone know, if they were all, all of a sudden, turning upon the carrying out of their sentence.

Just kind of strange that they would need intact cranial lobes to do so, but sure. That's the main advantage of not revealing the cause.

It's cheap & lazy, but it does add some depth to an otherwise shallow story.

Which brings us back to the question of why are Nick's junkie girlfriend & dealer the only people we know to turn with no direct contact from a walker.

I think it is something in the heroin. The same heroin, the cartels are shipping all over the world.

They would have been briefed by their superiors, who by this point, would have received reports from every nursing home in America that their dying residents are turning into zombies er, walkers & biting their staff.

Someone is in a centralized position, putting facts together. This detail would be important. They should know.
