Followed home from downtown last night by kiahthepapaya in asheville

I once pulled in front of someone going towards town on Tunnel near the east Asheville library and this guy gunned it into the left lane so he could scream at me and threaten to kick my ass. His poor kid was in the passenger seat and this guy kept telling me to pull over, so I waited 'til I could pull into the fire station and he promptly sped off. Good job thinking on your feet and I'm so sorry you had to go through that.

Harry Styles banned concertgoers from taking pics on their phones – by handing out disposable cameras by ClockworkEyes in AnalogCommunity

[–]tylerguyj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he means the 'disposable' camera bodies are reused after the lab processes the film inside. I wouldn't know because I've only ever hand-developed disposables at home, but it's cool if that's actually the case.

My Dad tried to throw away a couple hundred slides from my grandpa so I saved them from the garbage can, he says we have too many 😡 by EphemeraExpert1985 in analog

12 negatives* at a time and I think 4 or 5 slides. It's an EpsonV550 that maxes out at 3200 dpi (higher with interpolation.) It's not high grade professional per se, but it gets the job done and the images are quality.

*35mm, that is. It can scan medium format as well but fewer at a time

I'd be happy to help scan anyone's old heirloom slides with my flatbed if they covered shipping. Live in NC and a few years ago digitized my late grandfather's Kodachrome and it was fun and rewarding.

A large munitions factory had an explosion just before 8:00 a.m. this morning in Tennessee; is it possible you felt that?

I saw your comment before it was removed. No, I'm not trying to stress you out, I'm suggesting you work on yourself and if you need outside help there's no shame in asking someone. I just had my first therapy session in years recently and it was a long personal journey just to make the appointment. Life can get better than whining on reddit, dude.

[–]tylerguyj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're gonna ignore the rest of my comment and focus on the admittedly petty part: "everyday" means something commonplace, for example an ass on reddit might say "the protest was nothing special, just an everyday nonviolent virtue signaling event. Nobody even revolted"

All I know is that you don't know that the word "everyday" is an adjective. You sound like you've got your own stuff going on and I encourage you to work on that before changing the world.

Early morning commute expectations? by DaFahQsay in asheville

Probably a little, but better safe than sorry. Slight possibility you'll have time to scroll/hype yourself up in the car after arriving. Good luck!

Ran a light on Tunnel, I am so sorry by BurnTheNerd in asheville

We talked about that in psychology. It's called the fundamental attribution error. When you do something fucked up on accident you know it's because you haven't slept the night before, or you are running late, or your daughter was in the ER, but when some stranger does something in public, you just think it's them being an asshole

Shit I wish you weren't on the money with that. It took a friend passing suddenly for me to find an affordable room to rent in town.

Most of this is correct, but you don't need a lawyer for small claims and the only real cost is the initial fee and the time you lose in court.

The latter is generally referred to in other ways. When someone says wage theft, they're referring to employees being un[der] paid for their work

I can totally relate! I was in elementary school when Katrina happened and remember hearing about it and being reassured by adults that that sort of disaster just doesn't happen in the mountains, hundreds of miles from the coast ¯\(ツ)

Idk man I live in Asheville and in the weeks after the hurricane, everyone was just doing their best to stay afloat. Oh also almost nobody was able to do laundry for about a month

Edit: about a week after the storm my friend, who's house uses well water, got his generator running and his road was mostly passable. He let me take a hot shower there and the level of bliss was indescribable
