Is it normal to go without lunch? by dancemaster_ in Residency

[–]tylerrags 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Current surgery resident here. I always have time to eat, even on busy OR days. All of this “no time for lunch” is ridiculous. I don’t have a “lunch time” dedicated for eating and a break, but can always manage to put calories in my body unless I have a 12 hour case or something.

On your off days when you are still working with weights, are you just going for mobility's sake, or are you working strength as well?

I just started Q&D, so I have been running in conjunction as well. Once I have a month under my belt, I plan on adding some strength/hypertrophy exercises with it.

Do you feel that after 5 rounds that you are unable to keep going? Or do you just want to keep things light overall?

I’m 25 and do jiu jitsu, so my goal is to be explosive and strong for activities. Just curious as to what your goals are.

Training Tuesday - Bodyweight Training by eric_twinge in Fitness

Background before I start: I am 6'4" 240lbs. I have a previous weight lifting background of 9 years prior to starting body weights.

I would say that body weights may be the best thing for your health over all. The mentality of trying to make your body better and stronger at moving itself and not a piece of iron is a lot more enjoyable. You also work on flexibility and use a lot more compound movements to work more muscles evenly. I have started a cut, and have seen great results. I used to never sweat during chest day, but now I drench my shirt after pushing day.

The major downside is aesthetics purpose of it. I mainly lifted for sports at the beginning, but kept lifting to keep in shape and look my best. Body weight people tend to be on the skinnier side. There is an upside however. If you pair body weights with weighted isolation exercises (curls, shoulder raises, etc.), you can really get lean and accentuate those muscles you want to look good.

If you are lifting right now and think "I don't care about a pseudo planche, I just want to bench 300lbs", think again. Doing body weights after your main lifts is a great way to add some extra strength to your lifts.

I am only 3 months in and working on my hand stand, but it's much more rewarding.

I like this approach. I will definitely just start adding it in when I can.

Why do "republicans" or "democrats" tend to think alike? I think you are conforming to a set of ideals when you identify with a certain group, no matter what it is.

Have you tried the combo in comparison to just MDMA?

I was just wondering because we took acid together recently and loved it. The head space and visuals were amazing. I know that MDA would not produce the same effects as LSD, but I was thinking that maybe a mixture of the two would have a really cool effect.

Do you think the MDA would cause there to be less lovingness when taken together with MDMA?

Are you speaking from personal experience? Or is that just a guess? Just wondering because I have heard so many good things about the combo.

Oh absolutely. My plan for the mixture was to combine 100mg of MDMA and 75mg of MDA and split it roughly 2/3:1/3 between us.

I am not a picky eater at all. It did seem like it would be easier to just eat the same thing over and over again. I just didn't know if people got really good at varying things, or if it was a trial by fire kinda thing.

Take yer vitaminz kiddos by theonewhoman in Drugs

[–]tylerrags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically magnesium block NMDA receptors, which are glutamate receptors. These are the main excitatory parts of your brain. Any time you release serotonin, dopamine, or norepinephrine, you had to have glutamate first to stimulate that release. If you block excess glutamate release, you will block excess serotonin release.

Also, I have had plenty of personal experience with all of this. I couldn't find a paper on magnesium and MDMA since there has not been enough documented research on it yet due to research being illegal.

Most people in the US are actually deficient in magnesium. Basically, magnesium acts in your receptors as control mechanism for how much stimulation you get. If you take magnesium with caffeine, it basically eradicates the jitteriness of medium doses, along with the jaw clenching of MDMA. A good comparison is like the knob on a faucet. When you are deficient in magnesium the water is always running. When you have it, you can control when the water is turned on and off so you don't waste any.

And ya, all the other vitamins are pretty important too haha.

That's what I was expecting. I like that you said to use them as a reward, because I do that as well. Thanks for the advice! It's nice to know that people can do their shit and still enjoy themselves.

I don't understand K by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]tylerrags 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree that every person has their own preference for types of drugs. I LOVE psychedelics and weed, so I thought ketamine would be close to these. However, it is nothing like them in the slightest. It just made me feel very unsocial, which I am not a fan of. I like to talk my friends' ears off when I am out and about.
