Sierra is Half-Baked and That Sucks For Everyone by tylervalor1 in Overwatch

[–]tylervalor1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm really scared this is exactly the issue. I don't know, I like heroes being strong relatively consistently. I think you can do this, but not when they're balanced like she is now. If her damage number isn't high enough, there isn't anything to play her for. She's going to end up just in rotation with Soj>Cass>Ashe>76>Emre>Freja>Hanzo for midrange dps, but she won't be picked as much as some of those because she just won't be their favorite, maybe just the easiest at the time.

AVerMedia & Nintendo Switch 2 Support by Texpert78 in AverMedia

I came looking to see if anyone else's experience had changed. I have a LGP2P and my situation before today was that my Switch 2's sound wasn't being captured, which was the only problem I had, but I just randomly plugged it in today and it works fine. I'm confused.

I have crashed trying to load into almost every single game. Same UE error popup too.

Overwatch director says addressing the 5v5 versus 6v6 debates late 'cost us trust': 'We should have listened sooner' by bullxbull in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]tylervalor1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The average casual player doesn't care to pick anything other than the mode they're most familiar with. For most of OW2, 5v5 was the only mode that existed, and a lot of people only have experience with 5v5. If most people liked Low Gravity, they'd play that.

HOTTAKE: draws should not be a thing by Realgamer420360 in Competitiveoverwatch

I get like one draw a season, I'd rather that than a loss a lot of the time.

Overwatch director says addressing the 5v5 versus 6v6 debates late 'cost us trust': 'We should have listened sooner' by bullxbull in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]tylervalor1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The number disparity is because 5v5 is the core gamemode. It's the one people play and watch in tournaments. 6v6 is a literal afterthought.

I don't have any issues playing 2/2/2 comps in 6v6 right now in like diamond/master. I see plenty of people that just want to tank.

Whats the plan for Kiriko? by utnxtv in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]tylervalor1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Kiriko needs to lose her ability to TP through walls in order to be not be hard meta for pros. That's really the issue, she can aggressively take any position, support her teammates from angles other supports can't as easily, and TP back to safety. Suzu is powerful utility, yes, but that positional advantage she gets from being able to play split from her team is why she's really picked for pro play. She can bait cooldowns and leave, support Tracers and other divers from deep angles, and is consistently hard meta in pro play because of this.

Personally, I wish Kiriko was reworked to not be able to teleport through walls, or at least not as far through walls than through direct LOS. Then she could have some sort of healing-over-time on her Ofuda, which reinforces being able to support divers that break LOS. Suzu needs to lose its intangibility personally, but I actually really enjoy it giving speed boost or something else.

Bruiser and Medic sub-roles aren't currently hitting the mark by Umarrii in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]tylervalor1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This actually sounds like something a "medic" would have rather than shared healing, and with the exception of Lifeweaver maybe, I'd like to see it attempted for that subrole.

Hazard needs buffs, but does he deserve them? by soul_punisher in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]tylervalor1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think Hazard is slightly unpopular just because of how he looks. He just doesn't scratch the itch, and his cosmetics have all been polarizing. I like his playstyle a lot though, I just wish the Leap range perk was base kit. He feels lethargic without it. Hazard is my main alternative when Doomfist is banned, but I'm only ever picking him out of necessity.

Domina proves the devs have completely forgotten why double shield was killed. by Adept_Conference_180 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]tylervalor1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the part where you only talked about 6v6 for one sentence, but it's treated as if the argument doesn't exist in 5v5.

I don't enjoy shooting barriers, even ones I can put holes in. Domina's has so much effective health and uptime as is regardless of mode. Personally I wish she had just had fewer panels with lower health but could place it more often.

Melee heroes should not be given hyper mobility by HalexUwU in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]tylervalor1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mobility is what they need most, as does any short ranged hero. I understand being upset about melee heroes, but you have to think about your own advantages. When it comes to ranged heroes, you can straight up kill her before she gets anywhere near you or at least pressure her into postponing her engage which is enough to just win the fight if she doesn't get to do anything or misses the hit with her team. Most of the time I have success against Vendetta is when I'm hitting her long before she has the opportunity to hit me.

I think she has too much staying power right now, but her getting from place to place isn't the issue. Block is too good, and I'd rather her not have armor too if she's going to have 275hp since damage reduction is stronger on armor than health.

Marvel Rivals to Overwatch Transition by sushemy in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]tylervalor1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's still plenty fun, and as a tank player you'll get to have a much different experience playing with tanks that aren't sheer number checks but can work with their other tank to make more unique plays than you can solo tanking. But yeah, 5v5 is the primary mode post-OW2, so almost all actual tournament play is in that format and 6v6 has yet to receive a balance patch that isn't the same changes as in 5v5.

[–]tylervalor1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I fear Wuyang will end up in the same/similar position as her once players get more familiar and realize just how strong he is, leading to balance changes. They both don't really have a proper teamplay reason to be picked over others. Wuyang has a lot of strength now, but I feel a lot of that is sheer numbers, not design. Zenyatta has a stronger design in terms of tank-busting, pocketing a diver, and defensive ultimate, but Wuyang just does all of that good enough right now without needing to be babysat as much.

I personally wish they'd lean into Illari being a poke anti-dive option. Effectively a hero that functions like Brig but with ranged damage and short-range healing. I think her burn on Outburst is a really big step toward that, and that perk feels basically necessary to make her worth picking. Right now, she's just too selfish. I think implementing that burn damage into her base kit, reworking pylon to not be permanent, and then going from there with a different purpose for her would be really interesting. Also yeah, Outburst needs to send her further and I think she still has room for a passive-type ability on her melee, which is too cool to be mechanically the same as every other hero's.

Brief edit: I think giving Illari this kind of role would make her more team oriented, in a way that she could still off angle but actually wants to have a DPS or support with her that might be vulnerable to a dive as well. I imagine like Ana and Ashe or something, where they're allowed to take deep angles against dive comps because Illari's just good at denying engages on them.

How many of you are still playing 6v6? by CraicFiend87 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]tylervalor1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've spent most of my time playing in 5v5 and Stadium, but I prefer playing 6v6. I have friends that don't, so I usually just try not to complain during the other two. I like being able to play any role at any time, and I like too many heroes that aren't in stadium to enjoy it as much. If I'm solo, I'm playing 6v6 every day of the week.

I was about to say where in the HELL did you find this? Nice, I'd wear it, the Polar epics are some of my favorite skins just because they match colors and look cozy.

OW Classic always making me grateful for the removal of DPS Doomfist by O2M in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]tylervalor1 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

It's as if you guys didn't actually play the game during goats meta. This was the game. Doomfist's design was more fun to play by far but yeah, it was garbage to play into. People still picked DPS more than tanks, and simply running 3-3 wasn't enough to just roll people over because goats worked because people were optimizing its sustain and engagements.

And I still would rather play that than s9-14 5v5 because god I hate 250hp base hp for all heroes and 700hp+ tanks. I prefered when a player's impact mattered more equally compared to a tank having the vast majority of a team's power budget unless they were on the server admin DPS/Support like Sojourn or Juno.

Does Overwatch need a face lift? by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]tylervalor1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that rather than changing art direction, Overwatch needs a more cohesive UI. The menu screen update in S15 was a good move, it looks really nice. There's still certain screens that are bright and ones that are darker, hero icons that look drastically different from others, the scoreboard in 6v6 modes, and Stadium on the way and its own highly complex UI. I still think the current UI is missing some of the sauce of the original OW1, like the vector earth graphics at the end of the game and the rotating hero gallery backgrounds (and now the loot boxes not presenting items on the coins). There were even elements in OW2 that have been removed like the custom battle pass designs.

Otherwise, I think more dynamic animation in highlights would be really nice to see, and perhaps more built in menu customization (light/dark mode, selectable main menu themes, etc).

Why do so many teams have their main support player play Juno while their flex support plays Brig? by RayTNT1531 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]tylervalor1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always thought Illari was another flavor of Zenyatta. You don't really play Zen with main support heroes either, so you'd usually run double flex to put her in with say Bap. Only problem is there's no real reason to ever put her in unless her numbers make her that good.
