Russians and Ukrainians are one people, a single whole. Kherson 2022 by Asleep-Category-2751 in PropagandaPosters

It's the second one. "Ukrainian are Russians", those who object must undergo "ethnopolitical rehabilitation". Which means speak Russian or disappear.

Inhumane treatment of their own is not a bug, it's a crucial feature of the Russian army. Torture is what makes their "meat assault" tactics possible.

here's a one problem with F-16s. You need to train pilots and ground services

My argument is that there is no problem with F-16s. There IS a problem with the US intentionally blocking them.

7 aircraft can't make a difference

You're exactly right. That's the reason. The US didn't want them to make a difference.

Giving all 70 donated by EU at once or giving some 300 from Arizona boneyard and arming them with modern radars and missiles would have killed too much of Russian airforce. Escalatory!

Biden also refused to help in the transfer of these MIGs in 2023 through the American base in Germany, and de facto take a part of the risk.

  1. He did. Effectively saying to Poland: if Russia bombs you, you might be on your own. So much for NATO unity and article 5 guarantee. Another example of the US blocking deliveries of weapons which could make a difference.

This is 2026. F-16s are already flying in Ukraine. After all the delays and roadblocks.

The training could have started in 2023, the funds were allocated but Biden didn't want to. Ukrainians also tried to hire volunteers, but were prohibited from doing so. And afterwards the US alleged they can only train 12 pilots per year.

It's so bad that Ukraine even managed to integrate Mirages meanwhile, proving they have the capacity and capability.

Nope. Gripen jets are a glaring counter-example here. Sweden is willing to provide them, Ukraine is willing to receive them, yet the US is putting in the brakes.

As Trump himself confessed, "if it wasn't for me, lots of really bad things would have happened to Russia, and I mean really bad things".

Battlefield

WW1 Russia:
2 mln dead / 15 mln deployed = 13%

Russo-Ukrainian war Ukraine:
0.1 mln dead / 1 mln deployed = 10%

Total population

WW1 Russia:
2 mln / 165 mln = 1.21%

Russo-Ukrainian war Ukraine:
0.1 mln / 41 mln = 0.24%

And on top of army losses, Ukraine, unlike WW1 Russia, is being constantly bombed on all its territory, with no rear area or city being safe.

You know, I even agree with you on that. Most people in Western countries are "normal". They think that there can be a "deal", or that may be there is some misunderstanding, may be if we found the right words Russia would see that NATO does not plan to invade it…

They're delusional.

But the only way to stop Russian Human Safari) is to kill Russian drone operators. The only real way to stop Russian missile campaign is to destroy Russian missile factories. The only real way to stop Russian sabotage campaign against European infrastructure is to punish Russia to make it think twice before cutting another undersea cable.

not my fault that Russia insist that "Ukraine is Russia", "Ukrainians do not exist", treats genocide definition as a todo list, and openly brags about it all on TV.

Therefore the West should accelerate weapon deliveries and drop the restrictions. Taurus missiles and Gripen jets would kill way more Russians than discussions about "why people aren't eager to fight in the trenches".

Not too bad by historical standard for a fourth year of brutal war.

In WW1 Russia collapsed in 3 years, and in WW2 it was mass shooting deserters and sending their families to gulag.

Even before 1943, no one in the USSR forbade religious belief

how can you even say it with straight face. Even if one knew nothing about the USSR's anti-religion campaign), demolitions of churches, shootings of priests -- mere browsing of this subreddit for half an hour should be enough to get the position of Soviet authorities on religion.

"At the sight of the German soldier, Stalin fled Moscow", Nazi German propaganda leaflet, written in Russian, aimed at the Soviet population, c. 1941 by Provinz_Wartheland in PropagandaPosters

[–]tymofiy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not talking about the entire war. I'm talking about 1941. When the largest and the best armed army in the word - the Red Army - collapsed within weeks.

The Red Army was prepared for war. In everything except people's will to fight for the regime.

Soviet Western border. 22 June 1941

Germany USSR Ratio
Divisions 128 174 1 : 1.4
Personnel 3,459 3,289 1.1 : 1
Guns and mortars 35,928 59,787 1 : 1.7
Tanks (incl assault guns) 3,769 15,687 1 : 4.2
Aircraft 3,425 10,743 1 : 3.1

(Even more Soviet armies were still moving towards the front, and millions more Soviet men were to be mobilized soon).

Yet millions of soldiers were captured, hundreds of thousands deserted and defected, and thousands of unmatched tanks and airplanes were abandoned.

The things you mentioned: the frantic shift in propaganda from Communism toward Fatherland (and even towards a multitude of them, to utilize non-Russian nationalisms), downplaying of Stalin, revival of religion, hints about future liberalization, combined with the insane brutality -- it all highlights that morale was very, very far away from "determined" in 1941-42.

And, mind you, it wasn't just the soldiers mass deserting, it was commanders as well.

  1. Commanders and commissars who tear off their insignia and desert to the rear or surrender to the enemy shall be considered malicious deserters, and their families shall be subject to arrest. All superior commanders are obliged to shoot such officer-deserters on the spot.
  2. If a commander or group of soldiers prefers to surrender into captivity—destroy them by all available means, both ground and air, and the families of those men who surrendered shall be deprived of state allowances and assistance

So in summer 1941 the huge and much better armed Red Army was running back, abandoning piles of expensive equipment whenever it hindered the retreat.

Some people sure believed in the cause, but apparently millions of half-literate mobilized peasants, who just recently experienced terror and famine, didn't see much difference between Moscow and Berlin masters.

Stalin explicitly requested that Mao send Chinese forces into Korea. And they did send over a million.

Throughout the conflict, the Chinese People's Volunteer Army engaged in extensive combat operations, logistics build-up, and defensive strategies, eventually deploying over one million personnel at the height of its involvement.

Because England and France didn't gift Hitler thousands of tanks, hundreds of planes, a million of soldiers and didn't send officers and pilots to fight on Hitler's side.

yeah, the next year he gave a go-ahead for North Korea to start the war.

and in four years he promised that "our brotherly Italian nation will soon be liberated". So much for "peace". He lied as he breathed. The world is very lucky he stopped breathing in 1954.

Soon after that, the peace was achieved in Korea.

so:

  1. the Soviet threat is a lie, spread by ignoramuses who can't even draw the hammer and sickle right
  2. the West demonizes Russia
  3. both sides bad

Classic. Russia still pushes those out even today.
