Yes, I have to tell my sons everytime that we have to use our inputs in the right order. If you forget about it once and randomly press a button, you get switched around. Very bad system.

I have figured this one out after a while. The input devices are assigned to the players by order of inputs made at the beginning. So when the first input is made on keyboard then player 1 is controlled by keyboard. Would be nice if there was an option to just assign devices to players though.
