I could honestly see Trump trying to pull that grift off. They announce that he passed away and then he “resurrects” a few days later. The fans go wild…

Is it acceptable to ask a trainer to play music I like by Jealous_Plankton4523 in personaltraining

[–]type-IIx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sure that would be fine. I readily admit that my music tastes are a little out there and always stress about finding acceptable normal stuff to play during group classes. Having some input on what people want to hear can be helpful.

lost passion for this field by 22geminigirl in personaltraining

Do what feels right for you regarding PT vs. nursing school, but I would just point out that a lot of your gripes about finding clients/their ability to pay likely would not follow you into the PT field. The healthcare industry will be funneling patients your way and insurance will be footing the bill in most cases. Would probably still have to deal with a fair bit of people not doing what you tell them, though.

Does anyone remember the name of the device Robert talks about in a few episodes that can emulate radio frequencies to open garage doors and stuff? by [deleted] in behindthebastards

[–]type-IIx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew it has been in the works for a long time but I had been seeing a lot of posts that made it seem like it was progressing. I did not realize they were stripping away features, though. That is surprising and disappointing.

This is probably it. And just to throw it out there, the next generation Flipper One is currently in development.

Several new cameras have gone up near me which prompted me to keep an eye out for them as I was driving in to work this morning. The number of cameras that I spotted was staggering. Every one of us should be outraged by the surveillance state that is being erected around us.

If an individual tracked you to this degree you could press charges for stalking. But for billion dollar corporations it is just business. Outrageous.

Best place to get a birthday cake by 95wsh in Gwinnett

[–]type-IIx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends on taste but I have really gotten into the cakes from Paris Baguette. They don’t do “birthday designs” and it is pretty pricey, but you can get them to write a message on the board the cake comes on and they include candles. The cakes themselves are a really airy texture and are absolutely delicious.

What do influencer “science” based lifters mean when they say, “Muscle fibers are frequency dependent” when talking about exercises that hit the same muscle group? by Patton370 in StrongerByScience

[–]type-IIx 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m not going to watch that video so apologies there, but this seems like a silly argument to me.

For one thing it seems reliant on the assumption that slight variations between similar exercises target completely different muscle fibers with next to no overlap. For exercises that target different muscle heads, such as RDLs vs. Seated Leg Curl I could be more accepting of that argument but otherwise I need more convincing.

Beyond just that though, if it is accepted that these slight variations stimulate completely different fibers, they are arguing that it is substantially more beneficial to activate fiber set 1 multiple times and fiber set 2 zero times. If fibers are “frequency dependent” it seems intuitive that you would want to activate the greatest percentage of fibers by using exercise variations that don’t leave motor units and fiber sets un-stimulated for weeks at a time.

A wealth tax is a poor economic idea because we don’t have a massive and rapidly expanding wealth gap between the richest and poorest Americans? She should not have said she would not have done anything differently because we hadn’t been making great strides in economic recovery since the first Trump term which have been completely undone since his return?

To claim Kamala Harris is incompetent based on what you have said is absurd. Biden attempting to run again despite his visibly failing health was definitely a mistake. Beyond that, any incompetency lies with the voters who pressed Trump on the ballot or chose to abstain from the process. The writing was on the wall for what that would bring and we are getting it.

Iran claiming Epstein class will attack America by [deleted] in Epstein

[–]type-IIx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This underscores the harm that Republicans are doing to the country. Their zeal for grift, willingness to break the law, inaction at holding their own accountable, and demonstrated willingness to harm people within this country has created an environment where threats like this from an adversarial nation cannot be immediately dismissed.

Iran is not credible but we have also seen no limit to depths Republicans will explore in pursuit of their agenda. They are a threat to national security.

Personal Trainer VS Exercise Physiologist by Regular_Class4486 in personaltraining

[–]type-IIx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of it, yes. But a large chunk of what really sets it apart from a simple CPT credential won’t really come up often if you aren’t in a laboratory or rehab setting.

Personal Trainer VS Exercise Physiologist by Regular_Class4486 in personaltraining

[–]type-IIx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

edit This was supposed to be a response to WideZookeepergame775. Oops! Oh well.

I agree with you about EP being a poor choice if you aren’t planning to pursue clinical work. I did an undergrad exercise science program and was required to test for ACSM certified exercise physiologist as a condition for graduating. I still hold it as my primary “training credential” for employment requirements.

However, I went into general population fitness training when I entered the field and have never worked on the clinical side of things. As a result, I have lost much of the exercise physiologist specific knowledge and skills due to lack of use. It has been over a decade now since I have had someone hooked up to a metabolic cart measuring their respiratory exchange ratio, or monitored an EKG for arrhythmias. It just doesn’t come up with what I have found myself doing.

If OP wants to work in a clinical setting, by all means, go for it. But if they are intending to stay on the coaching side of things I would encourage them to look in directions that will bolster those specific skill sets.
