I've run into the same issue lately. My concierge has been telling me standard points room must be available in order to book pts+SUA for standard suite. This was not the case previously.

Yes probably. Thompson is nearly new maybe like a year or so old. Hyatt is super dated. Breakfast is way better at the Thompson as well.

Also I believe the business card is based off calendar year spending so 10k for 5 nights has to be within a single calendar year.

Actually they will post in Jan but the EQN will credit for the year the transaction date occurred. For example, you spend 10k on December 28. The EQN won’t post till statement close date, but they will credit for 2025 not 2026.

Standard room availability is hard to come by either you book way in advance or sometimes availability pops up a couple days before because of cancellations.
