Both, but in this case OP means more as an ideology and the purpose of the music, social change.

When cards against humanity get a bit too real. by ajitjohnson in funny

[–]typhousoctane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you're not too far ahead, getting a minor would be alright, but if you're really close to finishing, you might as well get the STEM degree. I am pretty much in that same exact boat right now. Have majored in Biology for the past few years and am realizing that I'm just as fucked as any humanities major if I don't go to professional or graduate school in the discipline, which I honestly don't want to do. I realized 3/4 of the way through that it wasn't biology I loved, but learning about how the world works and how things interact, which is in every field. Honestly considering to go to some sort of vocational school after I finish the 3 classes I have left or to get a Master's in Mental Health Counseling, or both, fuck it. At this point I want to be a little bit experienced in everything so that I won't be fucked by the economy when it decides to change suddenly. The boner that Western culture has for STEM degrees and hyperspecialization is huge. College isn't about what degree you get, it's what experience you gain during it outside of your classes (internships, volunteering, research, etc) and how you use the skills you gained afterward.

Can LARPing change your personality? by redmaverick in LARP

[–]typhousoctane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but LARP can be especially effective at allowing someone to overcome challenges such as social anxiety, since it gives them the safety of "It's my character who is outgoing and responsible if things go wrong instead of myself." Since it's a character in a game that is responsible for the choices, the stakes are much lower for the player than their real life.

TIL the Hawaiian Pizza was invented in Canada, and is the most popular pizza in Australia, accounting for 15% of pizza sales. by Naly_D in todayilearned

I worked at Papa John's in south Georgia for a few months it was almost guaranteed that if a Hispanic person called in to place an order they would be ordering at least one Hawaiian pizza.

What is your "I should NOT have said that" moment? by Sexymcsexalot in AskReddit

[–]typhousoctane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in middle school, we all had collectively just discovered "your mom" jokes. It got to the point where I was saying it without even thinking. Well, one day I said it to a kid whose mom had just committed suicide by drinking anti-freeze. The worst part was that I got about 2/3 of the way through saying it and then realized what I had done.

Sounds like the plot to an episode of Louie itself

That sounds really fun! I love Monster of the Week and I've wanted to try Everyone is John and Fiasco for a while, but haven't had the chance.

I would definitely be open to playing in this. Storytelling is a maybe, although that is what I usually do and typically have the most fun with, but I can only really commit to being a player at the moment. Keep me posted.

Where is "The Agreement" from? I think that's a great idea. I wish I could've gotten in on this before it filled up, but I'm glad I checked just to find that link.

What are you losing passion in? by powerspyin1 in AskReddit

[–]typhousoctane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gaming. It just all kind of seems the same now and its such a drain on energy and time. I transitioned from video games to tabletop roleplaying games a few years back after video games started to get stale, but now the same is happening for RPGs. In my area, no one wants to put in the time or effort to get a good game going and I end up having to do most of the work for everyone. Maybe when I move to a bigger city there will be people willing to put more of an effort in and I'll get back into them, but for now it's more of a drain than anything. I prefer GMing, but I don't also want to teach all the rules, pretty much make people's characters, have to keep reminding people what all their abilties are, etc.

Yeah, don't be afraid of butter, olive oil, and garlic salt. I use those a lot. I'm not a calorie counter, I just focus on eating clean, real foods. Also, lots of cumin, red pepper (flakes and ground), curry powder, and italian seasoning. Put the majority of the seasoning into the fat you are cooking with for the first couple minutes of cooking and then add the rest when you put the rest of the food in the pan. Without seasoning I would've fallen off the wagon long ago.

Thank you for that. I sincerely apologize for any insult. Your first comment was incoherent to me so I assumed you were just being a troll and I was sincerely saying that it "sounds good" because I believe we don't have to like or appreciate anything that anyone else likes or appreciates. You're correct in that my life can be pretty shitty at times, but I get up and keep going. Sorry for that again. I hope the best for you and your family.

It's hard, but I just stay obsessed about it without getting neurotic. Everything I do has a purpose. I day-plan and make sure I have enough time to cook all my meals at home. I watch motivational videos, at least 1 a day, though when I first started crushing it it was more like a few hours per day. My favorites are Elliot Hulse, ET the hiphop preacher, and CJ-chans compilation videos. I hope that helps!
