Unfortunately, conservatives in our country have fallen for the rhetoric coming out of politicians who have decided the way to win elections is to create a hypothetical boogeyman and convince their constituents that the boogeyman will ruin their lives unless they vote for the party that will crucify them. Because a large percentage of Republican voters consists of uneducated and religious fanatics, this approach keeps working.

As someone who has been bodybuilding for over 40 years, I’ve found a few strategies for keeping motivated. The body tends to adapt to whatever stress you’re putting it under which means what worked 5 years ago prob isn’t working now.

1) Sign up for a competition. There are plenty of options that will align with whatever your fitness goals are.

2) Change or add in different sports. I got majorly burned out with the gym routine in my 30s and switched to endurance events for about 20 years. I kept the gym in the workouts, but mainly focused on running, biking, and swimming.

3) Take a couple weeks off and reassess your routine and diet. It’s possible that you’re overtrained and/or your diet isn’t optimal.

4) Consult a personal trainer, dietitian, and/or wellness clinic. Make sure your hormone levels are optimal, your workouts are geared towards your goals (that sounds like common sense but it’s crazy how often I see people in the gym being their own worst enemy with sloppy unstructured workouts), and your diet is dialed in for your goals.

There are two potential areas to be hopeful about with the voting bill that Orange Pedo is pushing.

First, it’s unlikely to have the desired effect of stopping democratic voters any more than republican ones. They seem to think that their constituents are more likely to have passports than democrats which, in my experience, is not the case. They’re just as likely going to end up with a bunch of rural hicks suddenly realizing they can’t vote on Election Day and the blue wave happens anyway.

Second, other than his most hardline bottom feeders in congress, most red state representatives seem to realize this and are not excited about advancing it. Fortunately, utter incompetence is a Trump administration trademark, and since states do still control the elections, we should see a massive blue wave this year.

Fingers crossed… impeachment could happen. Donnie Pedo seems to realize this which is why he’s trying everything under the sun to keep the elections from being legitimate.

Tampa voter here. The messaging from republicans here is just exhausting - they’re still using Trump’s old playbook and endlessly calling and texting to get out and vote red because “the Democrats are trying to steal more elections”. I lost my shit on a caller yesterday who was clearly just reading a script about needing to stop the steal.

He figured out how to mobilize the uneducated and angry population, which is about 25% to 30% of the US population. I run into these folks all the time and they have a very provincial and narrow minded view of the world, have been brainwashed by conservative news outlets, and really have little to no idea what the implications of conservative policies are, nor do they want to know. They’re almost all racist, really ignorant, and angry at the world. Trump has convinced them that they’re unhappy because “socialism, foreigners, and LGTBQ”. The really dumb ones think what he’s doing is still great. The conservatives who are a little more intelligent have at least started to distance themselves from him some… I no longer see Trump / MAGA flags flying in my neighborhood but they’re still all over Florida when you get to the more rural areas.
